I thought we were looking at pics of the Jamaican dude who used to jog down Archer and 34th every day, holding up his hands in a peace sign, back in the late 80s, early 90s.

YES!!!!! That is the look it was bringing to mind. I had forgotten him.

As I recall he didn’t hold up his hands, he held up one hand, I’m pretty sure it was his right hand. And it wasn’t a peace sign, just an open palm, like some kind of transcendental symbol while he ran for hours in a trance like state.

Yes you're correct. It wasn't so much a peace sign as it was an open palm.

On an unrelated note, mixed-raced kids like the one at the bottom of the shot are generally a green flag indicator when you see them with their mother at Walmart. There's a better than average chance the father is not in the picture.
