He looked even more comfortable returning punts than he does kickoffs. Why hasn't he been back there all along? ;facepalm: He was electric as the weather last week!

He said he was too tired to score on that one run. He ran like 140 yards mostly sideways.

If I remember correctly he has always had problems catching the ball.

Just let him return kicks. Nothing wrong with being an ALL SEC returner.

Agreed. He's electric with the ball open field but not a great receiver.

And he has trouble running routes?
I would think ball catching is something that could be learned with repetition but I must think wrong.
You know what they call WRs that can't catch? CB's. LOL I crack myself up.

Love Debose though - saw him in high school, graduated same year as my stepdaughter from Seminole High School (yeah - gotta hate that name).
I really hope he gets a chance to shine - his HS highlight films make Percy look slow.

I hope not he looks as good if not better than Brandon James on return.

He is a BEAST on returns. Not so much as a receiver, but he'll more than likely win us a game or two this year with returns.

I agree he should be primarily a return guy. He was targeted 3 times yesterday and ends up with zero catches. Needs to be lower in receiver rotation. Going to him on 3rd down is a drive killer.

In his defense, the one in the back of the endzone wasn't going to be caught because it was overthrown by just a tad too much. The fade route he came back to and jumped for he should have caught. I don't remember the other one.

"He (Debose) said catching the ball used to be an issue for him, but he worked on it extensively with Florida assistant Travaris Robinson during the offseason after the coaches came to him about returning punts this year."

The 3rd one was on the same drive as the fade route on 3rd down. A short crosser in traffic. And then are first punt. Agree on the first one, Jeff was late with that throw.

He's got some of our longest TD receptions in the last five years as a WR. He's a big play guy, period. I'm sure a little rust needs to be knocked off and perhaps he's not the best route runner, but he's too good to stand on the sideline as a specialist only.

In fact, I specifically recall Bama's Dre Kirkpatrick getting schooled by Debose repeatedly in 2011. Roper knows what he has in Debose.

Debose has good hands. I believe he was just very pumped up a little too much.

He had some difficulties yesterday, however I agree with GI. Debose does have good hands. I'm not sure about his route running. But he even had great hands back in high school.

That long return should have been a TD but #23 was just running and watching at the end and missed the last block.
