Any other riders out there?

So NV's comment in another thread about his Triumph Daytona got me thinking. Are there any other motorcycle enthusiasts out there? If so, what do you ride and what kind of riding do you like to do?

I've owned a Guzzi Titanium, a DL1000 V-Strom but have done most of my mile munching on an R1200RT. I like distance rides (and mountains and sweepers) and am a certified Iron Butt rider (1115 miles in just over 15 hours). I've ridden to Gator games from my (then) home in VA in Tally (saw the 21-14 victory - the one Percy got knocked out) and Columbia (saw the game where Timmy scored like 14 touchdowns). I sold my RT a while ago because I wasn't riding her much anymore after having moved back to Florida (too hot, muggy, flat and crowded) - but I will be on a bike again next year (either an F 800 GS, R 1200 GS or the new Honda Africa Twin) as I plan to move a bit north. Once I get back in to "riding shape" I plan to do a "50CC" ride - Atlantic Ocean to Pacific Ocean in 50 hours.

NV - the Daytona is a great bike. A few years ago I was looking for a tool for track days and for a cornering school I wanted to take and a used Daytona was going to be the one. I had a trailer hitch installed on my SUV for the trailer I was going to buy - then tabled the plans when I moved south. When I get back to the point of cornering schools again - that'll probably be the bike.

Does anyone else ride?

I stay off of bikes myself but they are awesome to look at. One of my favorite videos on youtube is a Isle of Man TT ride along. About 18 mins long of what appears to be sped up video of a man trying desperately to kill himself. He crosses the finish line though. The amount of balls and skill that takes is ridiculous.

I rode sport bikes in college, until I almost got pancaked.

Only two types of riders... those that have had accidents, and those that will.

When I was in the desert I spent a decent amount of time on KLR650s.

I had accidents.

The KLR is an iconic bike - a true dual-sport. It went through a refresh for the 2014 model year - stiffer springs and a better seat and it is getting raves. I rode a friend's KLR for a day a few years ago. It was all tarmac on the BRP. I enjoyed it - but the 37 HP left me wanting a bit more.

Still, it is a go-to dual sport. Liquid cooled, reliable as hell, good mileage and can go anywhere. Plus, there are tons of after-market farkles available for it. It is a bike that'd be on my short list - if it had just a little more oomph.

Great vid.

I do want to tour the Isle of Man someday - though at much saner speeds. It is one of the Meccas of motorcycling. There was a time a few years ago when deaths were a regular occurrence racing on that track.

I guess with a name like heavychevy it makes sense that you'd want a heavy motorcycle, too.....

Used to ride with my Priest and other church dudes - they all had Harleys - I had the 'Asian' bike.
Yamaha vStar 1100 Classic.
Great bike and very quiet compared to the Hogs.
Had to give it up since I was traveling so much - just sat in the garage.
Good times.

I picked up a few too many guys off the street from bike accidents. That's why I ended up selling my Vulcan 1500 Classic. I loved it but my wife wouldn't ride with me and I started realizing my own mortality. I still kind of regret selling it.

Love these races. I just don't know how anyone can watch them and not get a rush.

Gotten up to about 125mph, 128mph. Got the shakes pretty good and that was about it. Crazy this was watching my buddy zoom by me at that speed on a Hayabusa.

Only thing I've driven faster was a different friends BMW M5. Smoked 150mph in it.

I hit 167 on mine. In the Ocala forest of all places. I really put the dumb in young and dumb.

Another great watch is the Isle of Man with the bikes with side cars. Ridiculous.
