While I agree it's not, he's averaging something like 33 points a game. He's hit 50+ a few times, 70+ a few times. I don't think he's as bad in that regard as you think. But again, what I've said before is the money in this profession has attracted the wrong guys--people who enjoy coaching and being millionaires. That's Mullen. Not accepting one of several bigger jobs offered last year, which multiple reports have tied to his demands, says that's not Napier. He wants to win and isn't accepting anything less. If he needs to adjust certain elements, just like Urban did, he's going to.

To your post above, if he demanded that at ULL, what do you think his recruiting group will look like here? To me, that's the biggest gain.

But in any even, if it turns out to be him, I'll support it until I don't. Pitchforks can be stored very easily in any garage.

Despite all your posts, some of us don't get you. Basically, we can either hire a successful G5 head coach or a promising P5 assistant coach. Do you think a successful P5 head coach would come to UF? I am not convinced M. Stoops would leave Kentucky for UF. We all want more assistants and better facilities. What else are you asking for?

Watch the games, watch the play calling.

That shtt doesn't work. Period. If it worked, Mullen wouldn't have been a 50-80th ranked offense in 9 of the last 13 years.

I know you aren't an X's and Os guy, but it just isn't that hard to guard six gaps and the area from tackle to tackle. Or screen passes. It just isn't.

Im been through this a thousand fuchsing time. It's about the ingredients. Option ball is the wrong damn ingredient. I don't give a fuchs if a guy is in a shtty conference managing to make Mullinz ball work vs 2 star defenses.

You find the next Riley or Ryan by HIRING the next Riley or Ryan. Some OC that throws the ball around and scores points. Great OCs are in great demand. They don't end up at some shtthole like Lafayette for 4 years or in Iowa State, Cowbell or someother shtthole lower P5 school.

Ball control option bullshtt won't work, period.

You notice that the only time Mullinz offense look even slightly functional was when someone else was insisting on throwing the ball downfield. Still lost 4 games because he had a garbage DC and had to return to option ball 42% of the time, but we say the possibilities with changes. Then 2020 and back to option ball and no points.

Instead we keep hiring shttty OCs with shtty offenses then tell ourselves it is bc WE DIDN'T HIRE A CEO like the twitter mob belches constantly.

I've listed many. Joe Brady is the first call. Brian Johnson gets a call. There are probably a dozen in between. Those are just the names I know, and I don't watch other schools much. Obviously B Stoops has done a good job hiring great OCs, and maybe he could run the program for a few years and turn it over to the next Riley he hires. There are other options of HCs who will make the correct OC choices.

Okie doesn't even think it is hard to find one, it seems.

I bet SOS can look at game film and tell you which ones have IT. Show him the game tape of the top passing teams and see what he finds as exceptional (vs just taking advantage of poor defenses or passing while down by 28 points).

Instead we are going to do the same shtt one more time and hope it's different now because the name begins with an "N" instead of an "M".

Putting more staff into basically everything is a given but any coach is going to want to do that. It's just matter of overcoming the AD to get the staff we need to compete. That doesn't take "a CEO" that just takes someone who won't take no for an answer and AD that is finally ready to compete.

Brian Johnson is a quality choice, but 2 questions:

            Does he prefer the nfl?

What does the iggles O look like? I haven’t seen much, just a few highlights. With the old bamuh qb (forgot his name), I suspect there’s some option elements to the O, but can’t say with certainty.

Im ok with NFL RPO. That is where the QB looks at an OLB or safety maybe and reads it. If he crashes through the slant or whatever and if he stays flat then give to the back.

While that is an "option" it isnt what Im talking about. I mean traditional give keep option.

I would love Brian Johnson to come back to UF...

...as an OC. @Swamp Donkey , you are arguing from a really bad position when you do your thang* out one side of your mouth and then say Brian Johnson out the other side. Brian Johnson is an inexperienced muLLLLLLLen. Most of his experience comes from muLLLLLLen. Furthermore, all he has ever been is a QB coach yet you want to act like he can run a football program at UF. Dude...just shut up and think before you type.

Brian Johnson (American football coach) - Wikipedia

              Coaching career[edit]
              Utah[edit]
In January 2010, at 23 years of age, Johnson was named the quarterbacks coach at the University of Utah by head coach Kyle Whittingham.[7] On February 2, 2012, two weeks before his 25th birthday, Johnson was named offensive coordinator at Utah by Whittingham.[13]

              Mississippi State[edit]
On February 10, 2014, Johnson was named as the quarterbacks coach at Mississippi State reuniting him with coach Dan Mullen who offered him a scholarship to sign with Utah during Urban Meyer's tenure as the Utes head football coach.

              Houston[edit]
On December 27, 2016, Johnson was hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Houston.[14]

              Florida[edit]
On December 10, 2017, Johnson was hired as the quarterbacks coach at the University of Florida, reuniting with head coach Dan Mullen.[15] Prior to the 2020 season, Johnson was promoted to offensive coordinator, making him the first African-American offensive coordinator in team history.[16]

              Philadelphia Eagles[edit]
On January 27, 2021, Johnson was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as their quarterbacks coach under head coach Nick Sirianni.

It'll be interesting to see this play out. I could not find ONE Gator family member or friend happy with Napier at yesterday's festivities, even among the traditional UAA line toting ones. I was surprised I didn't get the company line about how great he was from even the usual suspects.

Our genius AD only gives coaches extensions right before he fires them, thereby ensuring that it costs us more.

Beware the Stricklin Extension of Death.

Our community sprung up when the Gatorsports message board was shut down in the summer of 2014. We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.

The management works very hard to make sure the community is running the best software, best designs, and all the other bells and whistles. Care to buy us a non-alcoholic Zima? We'd really appreciate it! Just click the "Donate" tab at the top of the page.
