In my opinion if he goes lower, he risks targeting(contacting with his helmet) or an injury to either his shoulder, neck, or the other player's knee.
What are you talking about? If he DOESNT hit him in the head it is targeting? I see you're in your cups tonight.

You go lower than their head, of course. Almost every other block on the day did. Go lower and you keep your own head up, which is what you should be doing anyway. Otherwise you look stupid out there when you miss a last second juke. I can hear the coach is screaming keep your head up.

I doubt we've been getting much coaching.

What are you yabbling about whiskey breath....he went shoulder pad to shoulder pad....if he tries to go lower it's going to be the definition of a crackback and he's likely ejected for targeting. If he tries to go lower with his head directly up he's going to get trucked by the defender because he would give up leverage....I'd sober up a little and give your vision some time to clear up....

So it was not our outstanding offensive line? Oh well

Texas Tech TE says Mississippi State has 'worst run scheme' he's ever seen

LOLOL...

I just googled and realized it is Coleman Hutzler and Corry Bell running that ****show.

Matt Coleman was also here. And David Turner. We have truly become a collection of the worst coaches in the southeast during the Lost Decades.

IMO, from that angle, it was pretty clearly shoulder to the head.

I think people get confused and think that targeting requires all of the elements, which is why they were surprised we got a targeting when the player used the top of the helmet to hit the other guy in the butt. It is not just head to head contact which will result in a targeting flag.

Not sure why Montrell went high on that. The rule has been in place for a while. If I'm guessing, I suspect he closed his eyes when he lowered his head. It's hard to see anything with your head down.

At least it wasn't the devastating Ass Targeting call.

I see the State player's head snap back, but I can't see any contact above the chest. Of course, the head would snap back (after initially moving forward) after a hard blow to the chest. But that's just me.

I haven't read this year's rule book (or any years for that matter), but that looked like a "High Five" block to me. To throw a flag on a hard-nosed play because a player is on the ground is taking unnecessary control of the game!
