This is easily one of the best craft vodkas around and can't beat the price (usually $15-20 at most FL liquor stores).

Made in St Pete from FL spring water and corn, with a sweet aftertaste. Drinking now to celebrate the Tampa Bay Lighting Stanley Cup victory (also had post-Gator victory this Saturday).

      Highly recommended.

Was in Utah a few weeks back and went to the High West distillery in Park City that had a few good things.

My top favorite was their Double Rye Whiskey, but the Prairie Bourbon was a close second. Their oat vodka (forget the name offhand, it was a blue bottle) was incredible.

I've never had a bad batch. Stagg Jr is great too, but much harder to find.

Actually another fairly easy to find cask strength that real good and reasonably priced is Belle Meade's Cask strength

I have a nephew that sends me the Antique or the green label Weller now and then. I like both. A lot. Last time he sent the Stagg... I’m trying for more, lol
Makers 46 is a bit sweet for me, I am more of a 101 every day guy. Or beam, damn that stuff is cheap, :) But different tastes give us variety.

Once you get a taste for the barrel proofs it's hard to go back to anything proofed down.

If you can find it Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is like the small batch, but amped up. I've been lucky enough to find a couple bottles and picked them up.

My quintessential bourbon is still Stagg Jr.

I turned 50 in April and opened up a bottle of George T. Stagg, I had, which is a high end barrel proof. First couple pours were just ok. But the last glass I had, after it had oxidized a couple months, is fantastic. I decided it's not worth the premium over Stagg Jr.

Another vote for Wilderness Trail. It's really good!

I'm currently enjoying a bottle of George T. Stagg.

I personally think Buffalo Trace and Blanton's are overrated. Not bad, but there is a ton of heat on them. I personally think Blanton's may be one of the most overrated bourbons on the market, but I do like Buffalo Trace as a buy for under $25. However, I think Eagle Rare is a must get at $30.

If you like some rye notes, catch some Wild Turkey 101. If not, try some Evan Williams white label. Two of the best bargains in bourbon. Never tried BT and EW White side by side, but I have 101 and BT, and 101 smoked it in my opinion. Still BT is a real solid bourbon.

Don't sleep on the staples, Knob Creek, Elijah Craig, etc. The new Four Roses Small Batch Select is nice at the price, but wish it was cheaper.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on New Riff. My wife surprised me with a bottle of it a few months back and I thought it was very average. I‘ve learned in this thread I may not have the best palette when it comes to whiskey. But it seemed like the $50 price point was high to me. What’s your take?

I don’t get the love for Angels Envy, but hot sauce probably burned out my tasters.. ;) always just thought it was average. But probably why there is more than one noice. Haha.

now I need to go to the store

This stuff is great and they are supposed to rapidly expanding. Their rye is cask strength and awesome. Wasn't as big a fan of their rye bourbon, but it's still good. Trust me, this bourbon isn't some secret. Very popular in KY along with New Riff.

Want something not super popular yet? Try Woodinville

Agree. I typically don’t try anything in a sherry cask or the flavored stuff as it is typically way too sweet for me. A zillion boutique bourbons out there these days, but Beam Black is better than most of them ;)

                                      And then for gin:

Four pillars from Australia. They’ve got one with Shiraz grapes and it’s killer.

Barr Hill from Vermont. Only botanicals are juniper and honey. Super good stuff.

Our community sprung up when the Gatorsports message board was shut down in the summer of 2014. We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.
