This is easily one of the best craft vodkas around and can't beat the price (usually $15-20 at most FL liquor stores).
Made in St Pete from FL spring water and corn, with a sweet aftertaste. Drinking now to celebrate the Tampa Bay Lighting Stanley Cup victory (also had post-Gator victory this Saturday).
Forget antioxidants and adaptagens, just drink whiskey:
These Whiskey Health Benefits are More Reasons to Pour a Glass
Was in Utah a few weeks back and went to the High West distillery in Park City that had a few good things.
My top favorite was their Double Rye Whiskey, but the Prairie Bourbon was a close second. Their oat vodka (forget the name offhand, it was a blue bottle) was incredible.
I have a nephew that sends me the Antique or the green label Weller now and then. I like both. A lot. Last time he sent the Stagg... I’m trying for more, lol
Makers 46 is a bit sweet for me, I am more of a 101 every day guy. Or beam, damn that stuff is cheap, But different tastes give us variety.
If you can find it Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is like the small batch, but amped up. I've been lucky enough to find a couple bottles and picked them up.
My quintessential bourbon is still Stagg Jr.
I turned 50 in April and opened up a bottle of George T. Stagg, I had, which is a high end barrel proof. First couple pours were just ok. But the last glass I had, after it had oxidized a couple months, is fantastic. I decided it's not worth the premium over Stagg Jr.
If you like some rye notes, catch some Wild Turkey 101. If not, try some Evan Williams white label. Two of the best bargains in bourbon. Never tried BT and EW White side by side, but I have 101 and BT, and 101 smoked it in my opinion. Still BT is a real solid bourbon.
Don't sleep on the staples, Knob Creek, Elijah Craig, etc. The new Four Roses Small Batch Select is nice at the price, but wish it was cheaper.
Want something not super popular yet? Try Woodinville
Some of my favorite whiskeys right now:
Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon
Hillrock Sauternes finished Solera aged Bourbon
Starward Australian Single Malt whiskey
Coppersea Excelsior Bourbon
High West Bourye
High West Yippie Ki-Yay
High West American Prairie
And then for Mezcal
Del Maguey Vida
Honestly everything from Del Maguey
And then for gin:
Four pillars from Australia. They’ve got one with Shiraz grapes and it’s killer.
Barr Hill from Vermont. Only botanicals are juniper and honey. Super good stuff.
