Those two things kind of go hand in hand too. As you said, if he’d done anything at all on the first three downs, that decision to kick may have been different. I actually think he has a TD on 3rd down if he simply runs and accepts getting hit. But at a minimum, he’s well inside the 5. From there, I’m guessing they do go for it. Questionable call, but clearly LaFleur had zero confidence they could get in, and it’s hard to blame that stance.
