People have no understanding that there is such a thing as too much horsepower and torque.

And, those that do have an understanding of that power, usually can’t afford a car like that.

In other car news, Tim Tebow puked after riding with Mario Andretti yesterday. He gave the command to start engines and had a lap in the two seater Indycar at Barber Motorsports Park.

Let me put it this way. The heirs of Paul Walker tried suing Porsche over lack of stability control in the Carrera GT that crashed with him as passenger leading to his death. Stability control is traction control with all sorts of digital sensors added to further enhance stability. The Carrera GT has traction control.

The Ford GT Heritage here doesn’t even have traction control. It’s a rolling death trap. You’ll note he crashed in a residential setting. He probably wasn’t even going all that fast.

It's a mans car that takes a man to handle...Some idiot with a few dollars didn't realize that when you hold down the throttle of a 5.4 ford supercharged DOHC engine like the one in my Shelby(same motor as the Ford GT) you have about 1.5 seconds before the "warp 10" factor kicks in.
Hell my car still has straight axle suspension and I never have any problems controlling it. Just gotta know how much and where to use it.

This guy is a freaking idiot. He told authorities he crashed because (wait for it) he’s unfamiliar with driving a stick shift.

Gets better. The car was unregistered and uninsured and he was driving on a suspended license.

He now owns a license in stupid.

Florida Ford GT Owner Crashes Because He's "Unfamiliar" With Manual Transmission
From the article:

“Guarini claims old tires, muddy pavement, and a fresh detailing were all factors causing the 550-horsepower supercar to swing out and hit a tree.”

I’m always terrified when I get my car detailed. It’s so dangerous to drive for the following few days.

This wuss doesn’t even deserve to look at a ride like that, let alone own/drive one. He needs to get back in his Honda Accord.

He pays $700,000 for the car, can't drive a stick, has a suspended license, and gets in to take a drive anyway. What a classic case of having more money than brains. It's fortunate that colossal asshat didn't hurt someone else.

He’s lucky he didn’t rev out the motor from the downshift. While I was at Brumos Porsche, one of the other porters took a 911 to gas up and mistakenly threw it into 1st going 85. Blew the motor on a brand new car. The sales manager got fired over it.

So getting back to the Ford Gt and why this happened there are more factors.
One he recanted his story about downshifting and instead said he upshifted at 35mph. I can tell you these cars as well as my Shelby(same transmission and engine although mine is modified to 700HP) Have VERY tall gears and like my Shelby will go 60mph in first gear(again I've changed my real axle gearing to 3.73) since the supercharger is building torque massively even shifting into 2nd at 35mph is a very scary situation for the novice driver who doesn't expect to be losing traction and having a slight "kickout" to the left with the rear end.....

The other part is the same anytime you buy a "garage Queen". I'll bet this was a very low mileage car STILL WITH the original tires....watch this video for an explanation....Again it's a man's car and takes a man with experience to know what to expect.
