I haven't spent much time in Gainesville the last 12+ years, and I'm not even sure where Celebration Pointe is, but this place looks great.

    Spurrier's Gridiron Grille

    PART RESTAURANT. PART FOOTBALL MUSEUM.
    ALL-AMERICAN EXPERIENCE.

Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille is the legendary Head Ball Coach’s next big play off the field. He’s opening his doors and sharing his legacy with all of us through an immersive restaurant experience at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville, Florida.

The bar and grill will celebrate Gator Football’s legacy of success while offering an elevated American-casual dining atmosphere and a rare Gainesville rooftop bar named ‘Visors’ overlooking the Celebration Pointe Promenade and outdoor entertainment venue. The menu will incorporate some of Coach’s favorite foods: avocado-topped burgers, grilled chicken, seafood, pasta, salads and desserts inspired by his wife Jerri’s recipes like pecan pie a la mode and homemade chocolate chip cookies, which have been longtime favorites of former Florida players like Danny Wuerffel and James Bates.

Fans and visitors will stand inches from Spurrier’s 1966 Heisman Trophy and other memorabilia before and after taking a seat. And there are plans for live radio broadcasts and podcasts with Spurrier himself from a radio booth in the restaurant. Don’t miss the chance to experience the Spurrier
legacy up close—right in the heart of Gator Nation.

    FEATURES
    • Trophies and exhibit featuring memorabilia from Steve Spurrier’s career

    • Displays throughout the restaurant, including one dedicated to Coach’s famous visors

    • Rooftop bar, called Visors, overlooking Celebration Pointe Promenade and entertainment venue

    • 3 bars serving both the indoor and outdoor patrons

    • 3 private dining rooms, the largest of which will seat up to 50, which can be divided into two spaces, and adjoins the memorabilia museum
    COMING SPRING 2021
With planned radio broadcasts from Coach Spurrier from within the restaurant and its location at Celebration Pointe, the host of the football and basketball coaches' radio shows and the popular Chomp the Block rallies for UF home games, Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille is the perfect setting for a sports superfan. Its location is convenient for anyone coming in for a game at the Steve Spurrier Stadium and for those who live and work in the area at companies such as UFHealth, the University of Florida, InfoTech and SharpSpring.

He built the Steve Spurrier health club off 23rd Ave in the 70's. Great idea but wrong location, on the eastside. Who knew the explosion of growth that was coming to the west side of town.
I hope his restaurant is a huge success.

The legendary head ball coach and Heisman trophy winner Steve Spurrier's restaurant will open fall 2020 at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville.

"Spurrier's Gridiron Grille" will be an indoor-outdor bar with a rooftop named "Visors," referencing his signature style. Spurrier became infamous for throwing his visor on the ground during football games whenever he was frustrated.

It will be very near Bass Pro Shops, which is Visible from I75.

Celebration Pointe is struggling. The theater is closed, until at least August. The two major office buildings are basically empty due to employees working remotely, and the residential development side hasn't had any real completion yet.

so long as the restaurants can hold out for 6 months to a year, things should turn. Dave and Busters did open and Bass Pro has been killing it. Alachua County announced plans to build a sports complex as Celebration. So just poor short term conditions.

That development is going to be nice, but it still has COVID obstacles, especially being Alachua County

                      Good thing Spurrier's Grille isn't a stand-alone facility.

Now that is something that is right up the old HBC's alley! Hopefully,
he doesn't have too many customers who are like he was and never ate
some place where he didn't expect his meal to be comped.

Hopefully, SOS is only lending his name and artifacts to the restaurant people for a fee and/or a share and not investing his own real money. That way if the food sux, which is all that matters, he won;t be out any real cake if it flops. I lived where the names of the restaurants were Ditka's, Jordan's, Harry Carey's, etc. and they all went the way of the dinosaur b/c the food was below average. Me thinks that SOS has put little to nothing out of pocket.

There's a Theismann's here in Alexandria - when I first moved here in 2008 it was one of three spots that the DC Gator Club met for viewing parties (DC & Arlington had different spots). I think Theismann had more than one location, but it looks like he only has Alexandria (Old Town) remaining.

If he's going to wait for better times, he might as well start rocking on his porch in Crescent Beach.

Literally, all the restaurants you named are still in business. The only one that might not count is Jordan's--it is now Michael Jordan's in Oakbrook.

The locations I was aware of in the 90's all went bust. Perhaps they have been resurrected elsewhere.
