Mounted the cabinet faces, put a coat of blue paint on them, and decided I needed to build the drawers before I did anything else. Figured it would be a lot easier to install them before I put the countertops on rather than trying to reach in there through the front to mount everything. I got some sliders and a sheet of plywood from HD, and got busy on the table saw this morning. Never built drawer before but these should be plenty strong enough for this project. I just slotted the bottom edge of all four sides and cut a bottom out of project panel, then glued and brad nailed it all together. Simple but effective.

RV Betty progress continues. Yesterday I made the base cabinet doors and drawer faces. Not sure the "correct" way to do it, but I just got some 1/2" birch plywood and cut it to size. Then I put the table saw blade way down so it only cut about 1/16" and ran the pieces through to give it a bead-board look. Then I cut strips of lattice and tacked it around the edges so it looks like Shaker style. I put some wood filler around the edges of the assembly and let it dry overnight, and today I sanded the edges smooth. You can still see the wood plies, but they are smooth and will disappear when painted. Now I need a decent warm day so I can get the paint on before hanging them. Stay tuned.....

Do you think Cooter is accepting phone calls wherever he is right now?

We waited 6 months for our original framer to come back and help remove a few walls for a new master bath remodel upstairs. The roofline is funky and we were looking for help. Tired of waiting so Seedy took down the non-load bearing walls himself. He will need to add some additional supports to the ceiling so we can bust into a wall cavity and add a tub. We are expanding into the hallway too to add two large vanities.

Anyone have recommendations with floor heating systems for tiled flooring? You people in FL may not understand why we want to heat our floors.

It’s a complicated space and doesn’t photograph well.

It’s been a while so here's a post update that I wish Cooter could see. We started the bathroom reno back in October. We’ve taken off plenty of time here and there (covid, holidays and now Seedy is studying for certs) but finally moving into the last stretch. We turned the unused 7x9ish bathroom into a new 13x13 master bathroom suite. The orange flooring is the uncoupling membrane that will allow us to run the wire for the heated floor. After that we will be on to tiling the floor and shower.

Got the wire run for the heated floors. If it weren’t for this we would be almost finished by now. So many extra steps involved. Seedy had to run a 100’ line to its own circuit to the breaker box in the garage. It couldn't be on more opposite ends of the house. 20x20 tile so it should be nice in the winter. It’s on a WiFi thermostat with a timer. Hope it’s all worth it. (We had extra wire that can’t be cut so we had to run it around the toilet and under the vanities to use the excess)

Finally got around to laying the floor down in Betty. Used LVP from home depot, seems to be good stuff. Took a while to make sure I had a good reference for a centerline, and then had to figure out which corner to start in...keeping in mind they have to go in at an angle in order to 'snap' into the previous piece. Thankfully no big surprises. Once the floor was down, I trimmed it all out with some shoe molding to keep it in place. Its a floating floor, there is a little gap all around the edge to account for expansion/contraction due to weather.

Also, I think you can see the curtains the wife made. We found some tablecloths online that had a good pattern and we made the curtains out of that material.

Son said he didn’t want to go to the beach for spring break. Great, manual labor it is!

we had baseboards down first but had to rip it back out since the cabinet wouldn’t set flush against the wall. Ugh what a pain to scroll the baseboard around the cabinet (for Seedy of course)

eventually the tub will go in this nook when we get the faucet area tiled and setup.

and the best part is the heated floor! I’ve never experienced one before so I wasn’t even sure it would be worth it. AMAZING! The floor un-heated was 64 degrees and we had it programmed for 80. I can change the temp from an app on my phone. We have it set to start heating for a few hours in the morning. It was well worth it (since it was “free” labor) and it will hopefully be a nice feature when we sell the house.

Good stuff there @CDGator

Also I hope this thread never ends....in honor of Coot.

Thanks, and I agree in continuing it in honor of Cooter. Miss his input on all things pertaining to the home.
Seedy on the other hand would say “FU, not another darn project!”
Guess I forgot to mention to him the corresponding closet project.

Our sweet, perfect and totally innocent child got his world rocked by the mean old pissed off DUMB parents this week. He has zero connection to the outside world right now. Seedy wanted him to till the garden with a hoe but the more compassionate mother in me convinced Seedy to let him use a hand tiller and not the tractor. Life sucks when you’re stupid. I’m thankful for the help with the garden.

Wife was looking for a new outdoor table. Decided to build a simple one with old bottle caps we had in a bucket by the pool and encasing them in epoxy resin:

Very cool!
However I never pegged you for one of those tree hugger, hippie, recycling type of people. Very shabby chic of you.

 That table is about as anti-tree hugger as you can get. I cant even imagine the sheer quantity of natural resources that were consumed to get that much epoxy resin.

But the real problem is simply that nothing lasts outdoors in the Florida heat, sun, and humidity. We are getting new patio furniture practically every year. So.... we'll see how many years we get out of this.

I almost did it out of pennies. Something along the lines of:
