OK kids, I cut the cord in February. With the exception of the (extremely) infrequent urge to mindlessly channel surf, I haven't missed cable and certainly do not miss that fat monthly bill from those greedy bastids. My decision was further validated this past week. I traveled for work and stayed in a hotel and surfed for a while. Is every cable show these days either reality TV or obscure stand-up comedians? Sheesh. Awful. It's no wonder the streaming services are killing cable and the networks. They're the only ones actually trying anymore. Anyway...

Doubts about cord cutting are creeping back in with foosball season rapidly approaching. Each week the Good Guys will be on CBS, one of the ESPNs or SECN (essentially ESPN with an SEC focus). I guess when we go to Tallacrappy at the end of the year, they'll be on ABC possibly.

Are there any other cord cutters out there? Even better, any that have gone through a foosball season?

At a bare minimum, I have to get all Gator games on the tube. And I am the sort of college fan than can sit from noon until 2 AM watching/surfing games and at minimum don't want to miss the big, important matchups of the year.

I have access to ESPN networks via a login share with a friend.

Anybody out there with any insights to share?

    Mucho appreciado.

I keep waiting for YouTube, Hulu, NetFlix or anybody else to start getting cameras to sporting events to live stream so we can ALL cut the cord on the cable monopolies. Until that happens, I gotta have my Gator games.

I did the exact same thing but there's a Gator club that meets in Arlington - so I had an "excuse" to go watch the Gator games with a bunch of other Gators.
And wear my GC t-shirt... and drink a lot of beer.

Otherwise... I stream everything else and haven't missed cable much at all.

If you're buddy with whom you share the ESPN login also has a general login for his cable provider, you can maybe hit some of the major networks' websites to see if they stream (e.g. NFL Network, Fox, etc.).
If so...they'll ask for a Cable provider and the credentials and if you have his credentials, you should be good to go.

Otherwise... I'm just basically doing the NetFlix thing.

    Is that Arlington, VA?

Yep - his is a general cable login so I hope I won't miss anything. But knowing EXACTLY what to do from a Gator that has already done it would be a comfort. Hence, the thread, which I suspect will come up dry....:(

I couldn't do it. Too many sporting events that need to be watched.

There is a tech forum for this. If you have a Over-the-air antenna and ESPN access you will be able to see all the Gator games....the 3rd one requires ESPNU which is usually extra...

The FoxSportsGo app also has tons of live games.

We went to basic so I only get a few. Here is my solution. Friends and family. I would rather watch it with them than home alone anyway,

Sling TV has the ESPNs, including the SEC Network.

There are some IPTV solutions out there as well, depending on your internet connection.

Dirt cheap and you get everything you'd get on cable plus some.

With Roku's private channels I get PEAR and XTV both of which have the ESPN networks .
This is covered in a few threads of the Tech forum. Sling and Playstation VUE are a cheap cable/satellite tv substitute that doesn't have a contract.

Digital HD antenna's are about 20-50 depending on quality, and Both Slingbox and Playstation vue carry the ESPNS, SEC network, and you major three networks.

That's Sling TV as opposed to Slingbox. Sling TV is a streaming app that plays on Roku and several more streaming devices. If you prepay 3 months you can get a free Roku 2 or 50% on a Roku3 with voice control. Also on the link https://www.sling.com/tmobile?AID=1...ile&cvosrc=affiliate.cj.7779591&adid=12167793
it says that you get 30% off if you are a T-Mobile user($ 14 instead of $20).

Sorry, you are correct, sling tv ... Playstation Vue just added the NFL networks on at least its two higher tiers.

I did try VUE and it was real good but they lock you down to your home network. Well my ip address bounces around for some reason so everyday I would have to re register because it looked like I was moving the box.and after the third time I just canceled.

Don't blame you, just starting with vue... but have a digital anteanna for the local stuff, starting off through my ps4, hoping that eliminates some of the issues I've heard about.

Second to Sling TV. Works well enough. I used it last year and had most of ESPN channels for $25/mo. It includes SECNetwork with the sports extra. With CBS/ABC over the air antenna I get pretty much every game.
