Speaking of Dodges and turbines, what ever happened to the turbine either Dodge or Chrysler was gonna produce that they claimed would be able to run on all different kinds of fuels.

I'm getting lazy, looked it up.
1950s and 1960s Chrysler Turbine Concept Cars

Chrysler Turbine Car - Wikipedia

The answer is it uglied itself to death. This was atrocious looking. It looks like it was inspired by Geotge Jetson.

Now this has nothing to do with the turbine but the old Power Wagon has great bones.

Coronavirus project - it’s taken us 15 years and a quarantine to finally put in a walkway to our front door. I guess visitors are over-rated. Poured the concrete on Wednesday but only half way through as we will add quartz steps and brick on top.

Love this thread. There are some great projects going on here. We plan on doing a few more projects outside before gutting the upstairs bathroom this winter. Should be fun or at least entertaining.

First world problems - the basement has canned lights and the bulbs are over 10 years old and starting to go out. They don’t make the bulbs like they used to. Newer bulbs are LED and take a while to brighten up and are different in color. Do we replace all 20 because 2 are out? :headslap::banghead:

What are you calling "canned" lights.......recessed lights? LED bulbs offer light in a range of color temperatures, it's what makes light feel 'warm' or 'cool'. Old incandescent are still available in most bases.

yes, recessed lights. I don’t like mixing bulbs and haven’t found locally what I had in there.
Again, first world problems. :gah:

as Gren stated, LEDs come in a range of colors, but they shouldn't take a while to brighten up. Most should be instant on.

Hell I even got some LED bulbs for the outside with a light sensor on them. Now I never have to worry about turning them on at night

LEDs aren't that expensive anymore, and use much less power. Any time your are changing bulbs, I would start opting for LEDs, the trade off is worth it. Just don't get swindled by the expensive ones, you don't need them.

The light coming on slowly sounds like a CFL and not a LED bulb.
LED recessed lights will do it as well - not sure about the bulbs. I installed them on my screen porch (Corona project - photos are somewhere in this thread), and it takes a sec. As the switch is inside the house, it’s not really an issue.

So close to finish with our Pandemic Project 2020. It's taken 15 years to figure out what we wanted to do about a sidewalk. Pleased with the progress but it wasn't easy. It needs an acid wash and finished landscaping.

Looks great. Are you trying to remove efflorescence or mortar staining? I would suggest a phosphoric acid rather than muriatic, much safer to use. Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes or your masonry supplier.

Thanks! It is a white residue, presumably from the mortar that didn't get scrubbed off well enough. I went over it again today with a scrub brush but it didn't do much so will try phosphoric acid next. Appreciate the advice.
