If I could design a CFB D-1 Playoff it would be:
6 Conferences 14-16 teams ( 84-96 Teams)
  • Each Conference would have a Playoff
  • 4 at Large Teams would Playoff (Wild Card)
  • Start the season 3rd Sat in August
  • No non-D-1 Games
  • Replace Major Bowls with Playoff Games (Bid on Sites)
  • 6 Conference Games and 2 Wild Card Games = 8 games
  • Quarter Finals = 4 games
  • Semi-Finals = 2 games
  • Championship = 1 game
Who would not watch?

8 teams, 5 Conf champs, 1 highest ranked group of 5 team (yeah, they wouldn't deserve the slot most years but you have to toss them a bone, so get over it), and 2 at large. Nuff said.

I'll make this short and sweet.
College playoffs: Bad
SEC Conference champ gets practically guaranteed birth in NC game: Good

Last year would have been:

SEC: UGA
Big Ten: Bucknutts
Pac 12: USC
ACC: Clempson
Big 12: OK
Group of 5: UCF
At Large: Bama, Wisconsin (Sorry AU, limit 2 teams from any one conference)

Top four conference champs at the most. None of those other losers have even the slightest claim.
