Spice covered smoked bacon. Had some hot links down too, they never made it a foot passed the grill :) tried a new rib rub, put a bit too much black pepper in it, but still tasty

Those commercial sheet pans are great. And I use my pizza pan pliers to move them around. They go great with the Dixie fine china. Wait did their name change?...lol...

Happy Independence Day

Happy 4th to all my red-blooded All-American Gator brethren and sister-en. Hope you guys have had a joyous and reflective day! We’re celebrating at the lake in big style. Wife and kids got me a flattop for Father’s Day and this evening was the maiden voyage...

Sorry I didn’t get any ‘after’ photos, but the burgers turned out great. Onions on the flattop were a difference maker. One of our old football boosters used to tell me that when burger sales at the games started slowing down, he’d throw a handful of onions on the griddle and they’d come a running. I’m looking forward to doing breakfast on it.
I haven’t done regular burgers since we got our flattop and started doing smash burgers

That’s what we all decided last evening. The burgers were reminiscent of the 5 Guys taste. Buttering and toasting the buns at the very end brought them up another notch. Put some cheddar on a couple and the little crispy skirt that formed after it melted was also good. I’ve always enjoyed charcoal grilled burgers, but even at their best they still don’t quite compare to the flattop.

Always put the cast iron on the grill, smoking hot about a minute a side. Smashed and great salt crust is the only way to roll. Just have to watch that area between the cast iron and grill edge. The searing heat coming up will melt the knuckle hair!

I want a pellet smoker but don’t want to spend the money right now. Maybe a Christmas gift for myself. I like the green mountain grills too.
You’llhave To talk to @bradgator2 about the BGE but you can’t got wrong with the Traeger. Wait till you move.

Was at a friends yesterday who cooked hotdogs and hamburgers on the Weber Kettle. 1st it was
Hot AF and cooked like lightning. 2nd it charted the dogs. Kids wouldn’t eat them.

I like my kettle but it does take some getting used to. I am able to smoke effectively on it because I bought a Slow-n-Sear to create dual zone cooking. I still have to tend it though so the automated smokers are appealing. I know Traeger is offering Wifi capable grills and so does GMG - would be nice to monitor it remotely.

I have no WiFi capacities or app sensor BS.

My only problem with the plug-in cookers is portability and what happens if we get a hurricane and don’t have power for a few days.

That’s why I would get rid of my weber kettle. Its a great little grill to complement a pellet smoker.

Tacos with chicken, onions, and jalapeños on the flattop. Cilantro rice, frijoles negros, corn salsa, guacamole, fresh tomatoes, salsa, and lime. Daughter made the corn salsa and guacamole...
