Dry January - It's over!

Been staying on track with less beer. I've been going 2-3 days a week dry and no more than 2-2.5(I pour out half if I open a 3rd one. Not sure if it's related but I sometimes get kind of a "wonky" feeling especially in the morning(foggy and lethargic)....withdrawals perhaps? Anyone else that did this feel the same at times?

As I declared in the Box the other day, I'm doing Dry January this year. I start today, so my Dry January will be January 2nd through February 2nd. If my posts start sounding less belligerent and abrasive, I apologize in advance.

I weighed myself this morning, so I can see how many pounds I lose, if any. And I downloaded the EasyQuit app, which tracks the amount of $$$ I save by eliminating my usual drink tabs. I've used it before. Watching the money tracker is both inspiring and depressing, when you consider money wasted in the past.

My hope is that I feel so good at the end of 30 days that I am inspired to keep it rolling. But we'll see. I'm only comitting to 30 days right now.

There's room on the wagon if anyone would like to join me!
Ok, I’m 9 months late but I’m on the last week of “sober October.” We were on vacation the first week of October but this Friday will be 4 full weeks. :proud:

You shaved? :proud:

@LaylaGator we need an update. I’ve started to have a beer or an Irish whiskey about twice a month. Haven’t drank enough to get a buzz since one or two has satisfied my craving at the time. No ill effects so far.

I'm not drinking now. I didn't go straight through since January. I did have some drinks during the summer months, but am now back on the wagon again. Between the weight loss, the money saved, the increased focus on more important things, and countless other reasons, I'm better off sober.

Plus, I drank a lifetime's worth in my first 49 years, so I'm not really depriving myself of anything.

Good for you. I started by having a beer after several of my son’s football games that went down to the wire. It’s amazing how stressed you get watching your kid.

My 18 month fitness journey has been pretty profound. Holding steady between 206-210 lbs from a fairly in shape 255. Strength in all my lifts has increased about 40% on every lift. 2 days a week of full body workouts and walk about 5-6 miles a week. Eating right has been the secret. Meat, cheese and greens. VERY little starch and sugar. Little to no alcohol.

I have to force myself to eat more or i would be under 200 lbs.

Over the last 6 weeks I have dropped about 20 pounds. After losing my job of 23 years at the end of September I was forced to take any job I could get to pay bills. So I started working for an electrical contractor building a factory that makes solar panels. The work is VERY physical and hard. The amount of effort has contributed to my weight loss. I am hoping to drop another 10 or so pounds to put me just under 200

That's awesome Nalt!
Kudos to you on a career change at your age. I'm sure it was painful to be pushed out like that.
But I would have never thought there were carryover skills to solar panel manufacturing from manually sexing of goats.

No, no, no! You TOTALLY misunderstood me. I am working AT a solar panel manufacturer FOR the electrical contractor hired to do the electrical installation. (/Eye roll)

We just finished pulling 25 different circuits that the longest was about 900 feet long. This wire is about 3" in diameter and probably weighs about 10-15 pounds per foot. Oh, and it is in a tray about 20 feet above the shop floor.

The board has been very wonkey this week. I know others have mentioned it too. Times out or just lags.

Have you seen the video where they put a sound chip in a roomba? Evertime it hits something, a human voice reacts like when we stub a toe, hit our head on a cabinet, or hit our knee on the corner of a table.
