Not a fan of ETN but this is the one thing he did correctly.
NEVER accept to perform a roadside breathalyzer and, especially, never perform a roadside sobriety test.
You'll go to jail for a night but you can self-bail out and won't get the DUI tag as they can't prove the DUI so you'll get reckless blah blah or some other charge but not DUI.
Additionally, the field sobriety test has been used to convict totally sober people.

I get that. And kudos to you.
But if I were telling anybody on how to prevent a DUI conviction IF they had been drinking, it would be to not do any roadside tests and then hire a DUI lawyer. It'll cost you $5k but you can still drive and keep your job.

I'll also say that when you and I were younger, the field sobriety test was used differently then vs now. And it WAS an opportunity to prove you were capable of driving. But, today, it's just a dirty tool in a cop's bag of ways to incriminate you.
Because of this, I've morphed away from your approach and more towards a lawyer's approach where you should never give the cop ammunition and should force them to prove your guilt.

That’s fair. It’s been a long time for me so it could be totally different as you say. I was just always amazed at the people who were not absolutely blitzed but would still fail these tests, even back then.

Either way, this kid and his garbage team are total trash. That’s one thing that hasn’t changed a bit.

I was talking to a friend of mine today who happened to be at Ugly’s practice yesterday. He was anxious to watch ETN and kept waiting to see him run the ball. Eventually he noticed off to the side of practice was a player with his own personal member of the S&C staff working him like a rented mule. Eventually my friend realized it was ETN. He noticed that the S&C staffer would get swapped out for another one, but ETN did not seem to get much in the way of breaks.

The other thing my friend noticed was how good Ugly’s other backs looked. He claimed if ETN doesn’t get himself out of Kirby’s doghouse, he’ll be lucky to be an RB2 for them. Wouldn’t that be some irony?

Good info. You said RB2 but meant lower? RB2 at georgia means you're pretty good. I never expected him to be RB1 there. Imagined he would be more a situational RB.

If he doesn't show at georgia, his future seems grim. We may see the guy transfer again by next fall.

The RB2 comment was mocking him and his mother who have both noted in texts that’s what he was with us. I’d be willing to bet they convinced him he could get the starting job at Ugly.

As an avid viewer of On Patrol Live, if you take the field sobriety test, you are guilty. On that show, no one has ever passed.

I'll echo auggies thoughts. If theres even a small chance you fail the breath or the field test you simply refuse to take them. You wont ever get a DUI. You will do one night in lockup and be released but its way cheaper and less penalizing in the long run than a DUI. One thing I will add is that you WILL lose your license so no, you cant drive. BUT you are eligible to get it back a lot sooner and cheaper than if it was taken due to a DUI charge/conviction.

and I'll also state that the field test is now setup to screw you. I had a friend who was as sober as a priest on sunday get arrested and hauled off after "failing" the field test. He later blew a 0.0 at the station, still was booked, jailed and arraigned the next day but charges were later thrown out due to the 0.0. If you've had ANY drink in the last 4-6 hours you should just refuse.

One caveat that I should have specified, and didn't, is to your bolded. While Florida has the law already on the books, not all states do, but they will take away driving privileges for one year for anybody that refuses the road side tests. However, the hiring of a DUI lawyer enables that time to be cut in half or even more and they can also get you granted a worker's driver permit that takes effect immediately after your hearing. Sometimes sooner.

I can say from experience, cops lie on the stand, outright. Now most of us have phones that can record. Does anyone know if it's legal to video the police if being a suspect for such an event?
