UF announces times for team media day, first practice UF announces times for team media day, first practice GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida has released its tentative fall camp practice schedule and for the first time ever the Gators will get underway before their annual Friday Night Lights recruiting event. The team will gather and report for fall camp on Thursday, the same day it will also host its team media day. Coach Dan Mullen, coordinators John Hevesy and Todd Grantham and more than a dozen student-athletes will meet with reporters to discuss the upcoming 2019 campaign. Swamp247 will have complete coverage of the annual media day throughout the day, with follow-up articles and video highlights available on the website after the conclusion of the event. Meanwhile, the team will open fall camp bright and early on Friday morning, with the first practice scheduled to begin at 8:20 a.m. Select periods of practice will be open to the media and Swamp247 will provide live updates and a comprehensive recap of everything we see (and are allowed to report). The Gators are coming off a 10 win season in Mullen's first year leading UF. It was a good first year, and the Gators look to improve upon that record in 2019. "I think we took great strides in our first year in the program," Mullen said earlier this month at SEC Media Days. "You know, when you look in year one, you get a ten-win season, you finished ranked sixth in the country in the final polls, it was really exciting. It showed how fast our guys bought in to what we're trying to do and what we're trying to build. And we have a great group of guys coming back, a lot of talented players coming back on this year's team that now have won games and have high expectations and understand what the Gator standard is all about. "It's about competing for championships every single year. And the positive attitude we have is really exciting." Florida opens the season on August 24 at Orlando's Camping World Stadium against the Miami Hurricanes. The game is a prime time match-up on ESPN that will start at 7:00 EST as the two teams will be the only FBS programs playing at that time on that day. Mullen is excited for that season opener with all the eyes of the college football world watching. “I think it's huge,” Dan Mullen said of that game. “I mean, there's a lot that goes into that game. We're the opening game of the 150th year of college football. So it's a great honor to just be involved in that game. You have the -- everyone that's been really -- can't wait for college football to start, we get to kick the season off with getting to watch Florida play Miami.” Stay tuned. Florida football 2019 is almost underway.
