What's everyone's favorite "fake" song from a movie or tv show?

For me, there's one clear-cut winner: Scotty Doesn't Know from EuroTrip.

Though I could be talked into any number of songs from "Get Him to the Greek" and/or "Pop Star."

there was a movie with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore... "Music and Lyrics"... pretty decent RomCom and the music was surprisingly good.

the Tom Hanks movie "That Thing You Do" ... had a couple of really good songs in it
everyone knows the title song, but I thought this song was pretty damn good

This is anarchy and could’ve waited another 6 days. But we’ll let it slide.

That said, Friends Forever(Saved By The Bell) not winning a Grammy is one of life’s great tragedies. I don’t think the snubbing has ever been directly tied to Lisa’s Albino-Syndrome or Screech and Jessie’s descent into porn, but I’ve always had my suspicions.

Add Team America soundtrack to those... and this...

Not sure if the song is great, but the running gag in the movie Role Models of “Love Take Me Down to the Streets” by Wings is great and then they actually have the song performed in the credits by “Not Wings” with a guy who played Paul in a broadway production.

“Pimps Don’t Cry” is fun from The Other Guys credits.

Does the Blazing Saddles theme count?

Anything from Chef in South Park.

Surprised there hasn't been a Simpsons reference, but nods to the Stonecutters song with "Cut Every Corner" (from the Sherry Bobbins episode) being a close second.

:shambles:

This is the worst post. It was Wednesday.

So I’ll post this one from the 80’s when we thought cross-dressing was comical.

The Monkees theme song

Started out fake (or contrived). Pleasant Valley Sunday and Last Train to Clarksville were pretty good after they learned to play instruments. I think Nesmith was the only musician to begin with. Watched the show every week because, well, miniskirts.

Pretty sure Davy Jones just shook a maraca/tambourine. A monkey could do that. An actual monkey.

Lead singer instrument.

But didn’t Mickey sing a song as well? I just feel like the guy playing the maraca or tambourine has to be sweating bullets at all times. Every day walking into the studio is excruciatingly stressful. Any type of hiccup and he’s the first to go.
