Daddy's Home 2 - Basically a lot like the first one. Ferrell plays his over the top character that got old a decade ago and Wahlberg plays the funny tough guy. Now that they are friends they decide to spend Christmas together with all of the kids. The two grandpa's show up and in my opinion stole the movie other than one of the little girls. They are played by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow. The two of them seem like they actually had a lot of fun making this movie. John Cena also comes along and joins the crew as well as one of the kids dads as well and the few moments he's in are actually a little funny.

You have your Wahlberg cool guy jokes with his tough guy persona, Ferrells over the top stunts he always does for a laugh, Lithgow playing the lighthearted dad (a character he has perfected), and Gibson playing the womanizing tough guy grandpa that still thinks he can behave like its the 80s and says the things we all want to say about todays parenting.

Once again if you enjoyed the first one for a few laughs you will probably like this. For the most part it can be a family movie for I would say kids over 7-8 years old. You won't feel like you wasted your money at redbox, but it will also never go down as one of the greatest comedies. 6/10.

    Han Solo

Got about what I expected. Didn't try to tie into the main Star Wars series too much, mostly a stand alone character background type of film. I liked the main actor, he pulled off a lot of what I could picture a younger Harrison Ford doing in the role, so it didn't feel weird. I enjoyed bringing him and Chewie together and how they built their relationship. His main love interest was ok in how it provided motivation for him from the beginning of the film but left things open for follow up films. The actor for Lando has done other roles much better, but I don't think this was on him as much as the writing - he did alright. Watched with my 9yr old son, he got most of it but still needed some clarification on a few things (he isn't well versed on the main series, and that didn't matter so much, it was just keeping up with this film's content). No boobs, but 7.5/10 for me.

A couple of quick ones I finally got around to seeing:

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri -
Hell yes. Sam Rockwell is phenomenal. 8.5/10

    Lady Bird -
    Absolutely- 8/10

    The Shape of Water -
Weird but good. Saw it on a United flight so it was “heavily redacted” but I’d probably watch it again.
    8/10
This guy was in it -Michael Shannon.

Dude is in everything these days.
Saw him in Fahrenheit 451 (not that great) but he was, as usual.
And you know what else he was in?
    That’s right - Groundhog Day...[IMG]
    “Wrestlemania!?! No way!”

Saw lady bird tonight as I’m still stuck in a rental by myself for work until we close next month. Thought it was very good as well.

As my solitude continues for a few more weeks until we close on our house I have a few more (I know I have no life right now).

The Disaster Artist - If you can make it through the first half hour it turns into a pretty descent movie. Now I've never been a fan of either Franco brother so that my skew my taste a little. Basically about the making of one of the worst movies ever. It is a little interesting on how it all went down, but nothing great. 5/20

Lady Bird - A coming of age story that like others has said is pretty good. 7/10

Pacific Rim Uprising - The first movie was surprisingly fun with a great cast. Everything that made the first movie a fun popcorn, turn your brain off movie, they completely killed in this one. It turned into Pacific Rim meets Power Rangers for a good part of it as they now focused on kids. Fin from the new star wars is a good actor, but he couldn't save this poor cast and horrible story. If you liked the first one you will probably be disappointed in this one as all the good things in the first are gone. 4/10

I watched the Disaster Artist flying back from Ukraine a few weeks ago... I actually liked it, but I like both Franco's too. Watched Game Night too, it was OK.

I remember not knowing who he was, but he was perfect for his role in "The Iceman" as a hitman doing jobs for Ray Liotta and others, and sometimes sharing hitman tips with Captain Ameri...uh, "Mr Freezy" Chris Evans.

Recently went to see "Book Club". Your wives would love it. Dialogue was a bit racy sexually, but hilarious.

Watched 13 Hours again. It is on Amazon Prime right now. If you didnt see it before, you should. For those who believe it was a political protest film, it isn't. The actual "bad guy" of the movie is portrayed to be the CIA Chief, a bureaucratic footdragger just trying to get to his imminent retirement. Ambassador Stevens is portrayed as enthusiastic and somewhat careless or perhaps oblivious to the danger.

The Big Sick - true story about the courtship of the main guy in it and his wife. Was pretty descent. At times dragged, but pretty good with a few funny parts. 6/10

LBJ - Woody Harrelson plays him like he is constantly about to cry because of something a Kennedy said to him. Really weird when you hear the stories about him. Nothing you haven't scene before other than trying to give him a soft voice and nicer about how he said things during the civil rights movement. 6/10

Gringo - Watched this because the preview looked hilarious and has a great cast. That being said it wasn't as funny as hoped. Had some moments, but more drama than constant laughs. Basically a guys works for a pharmaceutical company that does business in Mexico. He goes on a trip with his bosses (Joel Egerton and Charlize Theron) and gets kidnapped by drug lords thinking he's the boss. The best part of the movie is probably Sharlto Copley's role as that guy basically nails everything he's in. 6/10.

All three worth a look if bored, but if you never see these your life will still be complete.

      Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Fun, fast paced and completely absurd romp through the formula. Give yourself a few minutes to write the ending and I bet you’ll be 90% correct (I tried that with one of my sons and he nailed it.)

The action is great, effects are fantastic including a massive volcano eruption with explosions and lava flows. I took my 12-year-old nephew and we had a blast.

Just one and a half weeks left before we close on our house and are all officially moved in and i'm no longer stuck by myself in the rental. Until then my solitude continues so here are a few more I've scene recently.

I, tonya - No matter how much they try they can't make Margot Robbie ugly. Was expecting a little more for this given all its press and oscar nominations for a few people in it. If you have been alive since 1990 you probably will not get any new information that you already knew. Just people acting it out. Goes from her abusive childhood, through trying to get respect as the US skating considered her white trash and didn't want her representing them, and finishes after the incident with Nancy. Acting was good and they tried, but its a story to many are familiar with and lacks the wow factor. 6.5/7

Wonder Wheel - Woody allen movie with a great cast. Set in 1950s Coney Island about a housewife who's bored with life, her affair, and family. This movie would be better for a stage play because that's how it plays. It looks nice and the acting is great, but just feels like something is missing. 6/10

The Man Who Invented Christmas - about Charles dickens writing the Christmas Carol. snore fest. 4/10.

The 15:17 to Paris - Uses the real guys to play themselves. Starts with their childhood and goes all the way up to the aftermath of their heroic efforts. The last 30 minutes are the best of the movie when it shows what all they did. Eastwood directed and did a commendable job considering he wasn't using real actors. Some would say that hurt the film overall, but I commend the effort. Loops in the real footage at the very end to make it even more authentic. 6/10

12 Strong - These types of movies are usually right up my alley. Its a good story to see, even if not completely accurate. However at times I found myself not paying attention as closely as I usually do in movies like this. Perhaps it was due to the reviews I have read previously by real military men and women. The movie itself, not the story, also failed to draw you in like a Saving Private Ryan or 13 Hours did and falls a little flat to become just another nice story to tell. 6/10

*Nerd Alert* Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay - another of the DC animated movies. Focuses mostly on Deadshot and only has villains from the DC universe in it. So the last Dr. Fate has lost a precious get out of Hell free card and everyone is after it. You have Task Force X (Suicide Squad) sent to retrieve it (Deadshot, Killer Frost, Copperhead, Bronze Tiger, Harley Quinn, and Captain Boomerang), Vandal Savage and his minions are after it, and Zoom's team also wants it. It's a good thing these things are one off stories because at the end most are dead. Like all DC animated movies it is meant for mature audiences as there is language, sex, and gory death scenes. It's better than the last few they have done, but not one of their best. The girl who voices Harley Quinn is absolutely horrible so that drags it down a little. 5/10.

as usual most of these you can go without seeing and still have a complete life.

Sas and I saw the Mr. Rogers documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" last weekend. All I will say is that if you see it playing at a theater near you...do what you can to go see it. 90 minutes of joy. You'll laugh, and you'll cry. Probably more than you expect. Overall, just a really well done movie about an incredible man. I'll give it an 11/10.

            Sicario: Day of the Soldado

I really liked the first one. I thought it was really put together well and realistic.

I really liked this one, but understand why a lot of people won’t/don’t and it’s a bridging movie to a third, lots of loose ends and ends with a cliffhanger you coulda/shoulda seen coming halfway through.

Coach and Sas should go see this movie, but they’d likely say it’s bull**** when the only bull**** is that it doesn’t go nearly far enough on many levels.

The new Star Wars movie is on netflix now, so I watched it in a fit of boredom last night. Actually didn't think it was as bad as many of the others. Not sure how Leah didn't die after being sucked into space though. Nor am I sure how this dude playing Kylo is supposed to be scary. He's basically Millennial Vadar.

Solo - Finally got to see this over the weekend with the wife while I was back home. I thought it was descent, but we all know that doesn't cut it when it comes to a Star Wars movie. It had some good moments and some that left me scratching my head. Had a moment near then end when a certain character makes a cameo that had me questioning for a second where this even fell into the timeline. I think the guy that played Solo did a descent job. Unfortunately this is a huge role to try to pull off and I don't think anyone would say he did an amazing job. you just can't replace certain characters with new actors. There were also a few hidden Easter eggs that linked it to moments in the original trilogy, but aren't very noticeable. 6/10
