FILM ROOM: Bama Post-Mortem 1st half Offense

Agreed. They try to sugar-coat everything and every post and article has to be overly politically correct!

Just say it; Driskel doesn't have what it takes to be a D1 QB (or at least UF's QB). He's a good kid...but that doesn't help us win football games.

I'd like to point out that TT 'took the high road' in his role as FB analyst on Sat, and NOT say what we are all thinking/is obvious.
TT just being politically correct?

Playing poorly at Alabama, many much better quarterbacks have done that. Obviously the offensive hasn't gelled and part of that is the decision making my Driskel which in the first halves of Kentucky and Alabama was horrific and inexcusible. It doesn't help when his recievers have dropped double digit passes over the last two games as well. I expect Driskel to start against Tennesse, but Harris to also play. Depending on how Driskel plays will be how much I expect to see of Harris. With a new offense and so many moving pieces right now, it appears the offense isn't on the same page.
So are you saying that the receivers are the biggest problem. And are you certain the receivers have dropped TEN or more catchable balls in the last 2 games?

hmmmmmm I guess you didn't read the entire statement.

Does the phrase horrific and inexcusible mean something else to you then it does the to the rest of us?

My guess being on the second OC with the Driskel situation is Muschamp probably leans on Roper to have Driskel starting just like he apparently does with the play calling. He made it clear at halftime he wanted to run the ball a lot more and we did.

I think running the ball more was the correct choice. And probably take the read stuff out since Driskel decision making in both the run game and pass game was pretty atrocious. Seems the only run play that has been effective for Jeff has been the inside power. Seems lost on the edges this year.

agreed we didn't truly try to establish the run, and couldn't hit the deep ball. So Alabama was about to cover the short to intermediate routes without concern in the first half. Muschamp was correct that we needed to run more. If we were hitting the deep ball, then that would change this whole conversation, but we were not.

There's been some Hall of Fame cherry picking from everyone on this board lately. Just ignore it.

He didn't say the receivers are the biggest problem at all, but the receivers ARE part of the problem. They have dropped around 8 passes in the last two games and they are dropping them at key times. These also aren't passes that they have to stretch or dive for... they are dropping passes that hit them right in the hands! While this is not the biggest problem... this is a problem.

How many drops did the NC State receivers have?

When your QB hits you in the hands on third down and you catching the ball would move the chains.. you have to make that catch.

When your hate is strong logic goes out the window.

We do get some drops but you see quite a few in other games also and generally the guys that throw the ball hard like Driskel seem to have more. Some QBs are a lot better at changing their throw if it doesn't need to be zipped in there.

Got it, the drops by the WRs are Driskel's fault. Only Driskel's fault and no one else's.

Driskel does go to the fastball a little too often. Outside the hashes you need to bring it. Middle of the field against man you can usually get away with a softer throw.

I think he should look at what Arkansas is doing. I think we should put the freshman I'm there and line up and run it down their throats. Go extremely heavy run and take a few shots here and there. Defensively bring more pressure. More zone blitzes if we're going to be a zone team this year

So we should be more like one of few teams that we beat last year?

Nope I am saying he doesn't take anything off the ball when he should sometimes and other teams get multiple drops many games also.

Thanks to the OP for sharing what one poster acknowledged rightly as "the stats that back up exactly what we have been seeing on the field." (Paraphrasing here). My naive--and somewhat rhetorical-- question here is does Muschamp see these kinds of charts? I would assume so, but then I would have to ask W(hy)TH doesn't he use that visual aid alone to justify making necessary changes? The man is paid to put the best product on the field not who he personally likes best. Hoping the remarks Muschamp made today are pure coach speak with no substance.

(BTW..thanks Ox for redirecting the thread...I definitely got confused!)

So when it is brought up that our WR's need to catch the ball better, you change it to Driskel should put more touch on his passes?

Glennon is just a tall big-armed stiff. Nothing more.

I seem to remember that Tampa Bay won a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson as the starting QB and he was just a tall weak-armed stiff.

Driskel should have put more touch on that 3rd down pass that hit Dunbar directly in his hands. Same goes for all the other 3rd down drops the WRs have had this year.

This thread is about the Gators, not Tampa Bay. Create a new thread if you want to talk about Tampa Bay.

Don't bring up Johnson. He cost me the office pool once with a stupid INT when they were already in short FG range. Yes I hold grudges.

If they search my house, they will find lots of pairs of gloves (and some toddler mittens too). So, the first question is whether the glove in question is connected to the kidnapper. Then, the next question is when was it found and has it been forensically examined. They may have found it right away on day one and just didn't announce it. Evidence is often (almost always) withheld from the public unless it helps the investigation. If it was just discovered, then why the delay? Why wasn't it found sooner? Was it really well concealed? OJ jokes aside, leaving a glove behind is really dumb.
you can also tell these guys are married with a family of their own. Because they didn’t even ask why there was only one glove, and if there was any chance of finding the matching counterpart. They’ve seen this episode before.

in fairness, if this Savannah is anything like my wife, the glove was probably in the toaster oven.
