Fisherman my ass
Caught what I thought was a Pompano but found out it was a Jack when I cleaned it and saw the bloody meat

I had River Rat meet me at the Vilano boat ramp and we fished at and near the St Augustine inlet. It was nice putting a name to a face and had a fun day fishing with Rat. Big Tarpon were around , but I could only net small finger mullet. We mainly jigged live shrimp around rocks. We wound up with 4 reds, 3 big lady fish, 3 Flounder, 4 mangos, 1 jack, 1 puppy drum, and 1 stingray. 3 Flounder and 1 mango in the box for dinner this week. It was a beautiful day on the water and we were done by 2pm and able to get out before afternoon storms hit.

Had a great day on the water with Salt and learned a few things as well. Salt schooled me up on jigging shrimp for flounder which I had never done before.
Thanks Salt for a great fishing trip, I owe you a trip out of Steinhatchee.

Fish that size could literally sink a smaller boat. Beat the hell outta the transom and sink it.

Wonder how they got it out, that is a video I’d like to see
The guy that had another one on the line dropped it at first, but I heard someone saying, "grab the line," and I think he picked it back up before he skedaddled out of there. Imagine trying to reel another one in while you've got one thrashing around on the deck haha

Monday morning I went to see Artemis from up close but got scrubbed. Still enjoyed catching a couple of trout. Also ran over a manatee, had a rodeo ride to stay on the kayak. Bummed I can't go back Sat.

Went out for half a day in the river yesterday. Got in the shrimp a little bit off Manadrin Point and Doctors Inlet. Lots of smalls mixed in. Got enough shrimp for a couple of dinners and plenty for the live well for bait. We fished the Rocks near Doctors Inlet and one dock for a little bit. Wound up with 4 undersized reds, a croaker, 3 sheepeshead ( 2 nice ones for dinner) , a jack, 6 small mangos, 1 largemouth, 2 cats, and a stingray. Beautiful day on the water.

Troll the docks on the north side of Doctors Lake next time. I’ve caught tons of reds and some strippers there trolling bucktail jigs. The spots around both points are the most productive but I’ve caught them all along that side. Shrimp (enough for bait) are at the inlet mouth almost all summer/fall.
