That’s just an opinion and based on hope. We haven’t played a snap so I don’t know how anyone can say (with a straight face) that “we are improved everywhere”. Thats the dumbest sh*t you’ve spewed to date.
The coaching has been abysmal on defense, special teams and clock management. You expecting miraculous improvements to that crap with no changes made?
Yeah, we’ll see who the dumbasses are when we repeat 5-7.
I'm looking very forward to rubbing every win in your face while you sulk about them.

I'm not sure how anyone can say (with a straight face) that the talent hasn't been improved all over this team through recruiting and the portal. I've seen talent overcome suspect coaching millions of times, in every sport. Remember when our Gator baseball team won a NC under Sully? Perfect example.

We ain’t that fuching talented. It would take Urban level recruiting to overcome our coaching deficiencies. Newsflash, we aren’t stacked with THAT type of talent.
And why does giving an honest opinion about where we’re at make you so angry? I won’t sulk with a win. I’ll celebrate all 5 or so of them like everyone else.

Many of our fans would prefer to be "right" instead of the Gators winning this season. They have painted themselves in a corner to such an insane extent that they have no choice but to hope for failure, otherwise they will look idiotic on record levels. That's why there's going to be a lot of rooting for the opposition from our own fans this season. Some secretly (like yourself), some openly (like Donkey).

I agree with your previous post. The guy has looked like an outright buffoon at times. It's affected his otherwise good efforts recruiting. But I agree with Ox, at least in that it will be disheartening if after the poor seasons behind us, the good recruiting and coaching upgrades/additions, we do not improve measurably. If he cannot engineer 7 wins this regular season it would be hard to make the case that with more time he could ever get to 10.

Me, I think he's actually dumb and at best an assistant coach. But, with great assistants, talent and depth at every position, he has a chance in spite of his shortcomings. We will see if his insistence on being the OC and not having a focused, experienced STs coach is detrimental again.

Yeah, you are. To think this team could be WORSE than last season and the season before that is asinine. We are improved everywhere. It's a significantly more talented team than his first season.

If we had our 2022 schedule I’d expect at least 10 wins. But we don’t. Missouri has 2 preseason top 25 opponents, both in-conference. We have 7, 5 in-conference.

The grind this year will be the hardest it’s ever been, but we’ve got depth for a change and more experience to go with better talent.

I voted 8 wins because we play better at home and we can win at Ut and f$u.

New DL coach
New LB coach
New DB coach
New ST & “situational football” coordinator/analyst

We need to see these hires make a difference, but big changes were made.

With year 3 and the upgrade in the portal along with the returning players there's no more excuses. Just need to see it on the field.

CAUTIOUSLY optimistic. One thing I am excited about is the defense. I think we'll be improved there and feel we will see that.

I voted 8 due to our home schedule and some of the upgrades. But it's really simple, time to get it done.

I am on record saying I really hope this staff succeeds. Even with all the upgrades I am very reserved. In all of my years watching football, I have never seen a HC so inept in his play calling and time management. Talent doesnt override incompetence.

If not for inexplicable mistakes last season we win 7. Had our defense been better, even great, we win 8+. Same offense, no staff blunders, solid STs, and a much better defense, we win 7 this season, maybe more. It's not too much to ask. 5 or 6, not acceptable. Beat miami and we are off to a good start.

In short, yes it certainly does in sports. Over and over and over and over again.

just because there's been a few coaching changes, doesnt mean they are upgrades. nobody we've hired was known by any of us until the name was announced, the coordinator positions are still manned by individuals who have shown to be grossly deficient, and the ST hire is another off field guy. we may have a better roster but our staff remains dreadful until they prove otherwise. finally, does getting 7 wins this year mean he can get 10? i see no logic or rational reasoning for that. getting 7 means he can get 7, nothing more.

Somewhat true, but the turnaround in talent is not massive enough to make coaching nearly irrelevant (think Larry Coker).

Miami feels as pivotal an opening game UF has had since Michigan in McElwain's last season. This one probably more so for how the rest of the season pans out. Lose at home to a struggling in state rival and the wheels have a very high chance of falling completely off. Whereas, we win that one and I could talk us into 7-0 with recruiting momentum swings and chances to run the table after Georgia/Texas (may even grab one of those). But, with the history Billy has, he has not given us anything here or at Louisiana to make me think that's the way this turns out for him. Since he does seem to work hard, I'd like him to succeed. I don't hate him the way i have prior failures (though I do hate Stricklin more than Foley).

I just see hype building around Mertz as the season approaches and people argue he is ready for Joe Burrow season 2 comparisons (never mind that Burrow had two all-pro WRs). But Mertz and Billy have a ton of games and offense to show us who they are, so we have to expect each of them to morph into new guys together.

If you lose at home to Miami, I see quick quitting on the coach and recruiting going very south.

I agree 100, until they prove otherwise. For me, Napier seems inept. Yes, upgrading the roster is a process, and that seems to have happened and could continue. The problem outside of recruiting and the "process" is, Billy is slowww to evaluate and make adequate changes. It has often looked like the team does not practice, or practice like an SEC football team. I really don't believe he's at practice soundly evaluating our units and the team, nor is their evidence he has that capability because I cannot forget how confident he was our defense was going to be a strength before last season. I do not think much of Napier's right hand men, Sale and Hocke. I mean, Hocke's retained and riding UF for a million a season and he has no title- involved in some kind of S&C role. Really? Sale has his supporters but I do not see a good recruiter or OC and that's exactly what he's supposed to be, titles aside. Is he not a great OL coach so he needed a counterpart or is he so involved with the offense that he does not have time to be The Man? Does he stand around at practice and blow smoke up Napier's skirt? I ask that because we never see him coaching OL, no video, no training, nothing that shows he works with the OL. Not to mention, having only a decent OL class committted and he's pictured with a PWO the day before NSD. I would add, I cannot imagine that a number of Napier's counterparts did not snicker at some of the game management issues we saw last season.

That said, I have hope because I don't believe they cannot be worse than last season and we are a more talented and deep team. History shows if you have really good assistants and talent, you win a lot of games. Not saying Napier's assistants are all SEC but we could be better. Perhaps Roberts will really help actually coordinate our defense and game plan that adjusts to the game- see Kentucky last season playing to stop the pass and they just ran it down our throats.
