Quincy Lenton took a visit to The Swamp and before leaving, he committed to the Gators. Find out what Florida is getting in the Mississippi safety here...
Quincy Lenton visited the University of Florida and he gave the Gators his commitment before leaving Friday evening.
Lenton is a three-star safety out of Meridian (Miss.) and he will take toughness and intensity to The Swamp.
He is a natural athlete and he plays loose and free on the football field. He is always playing physical and he brings attitude and toughness night in and night out. You see a good mix of finesse and power when you watch Lenton.
Safety will likely be his home. He has played some corner and he could get a look at nickel, but he is a natural safety who can roam the secondary and come down hill to support the run. He really closes on the ball well and he is an instinctive player between the lines.
Overall, Lenton is the No. 58-ranked safety in the country on Scout, but he is a little under-ranked. He does not always test off the charts, but he plays fast. Can he take better angles? Yes. Could he play a little more under control? Yes. But, he does many things well and he is a player who could help the Gators early on special teams, then make an impact on the third level of defense.
Simply put, Lenton is an aggressive player who loves contact. He is made to play in the SEC with his speed and physical nature. This is a good pick-up for Jim McElwain and the Gators.
