Florida hosts South Carolina for a Thursday - Saturday series. Both teams have underperformed so far this year, with Florida at 22-13, 4-8 SEC, South Carolina 20-13, 3-9 SEC. Pitching matchups have been announced for the first two games. Thursday's game, 7:30 on ESPNU, will have Tommy Mace (5-3, 4.26 ERA) vs. Reid Morgan (3-1, 2.60 ERA). Friday's game, 6:30 on SEC+, will have Christian Scott (3-1, 3.60 ERA) vs. Cam Tringali (1-0, 3.03 ERA). Important series for both teams as they try to climb to the middle of the SEC standings.

This is a must win series and almost a sweep is needed IMO. USCe is not good and we aren't any great shakes either. We can't seem to hit for shyt. Yes, it was great sweeping the SUCKHOLES :nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole:, but I would have traded those wins for some more SEC wins. We have to get into gear pronto in league play.

UF wins game 1 9-5. Gators got 6 runs in the 3rd inning starting with a 3-run HR from Brady McConnell, then consecutive hits by Langworthy, Maldanado, Calilao and Acton and a 2 out RBI from Fabian. UF got another run in the 5th and 2 in the 8th. Tommy Mace only gave up 3 hits through 6 innings, but was over 100 pitches going to the 7th and was relieved after walking the leadoff batter. Hunter Ruth was ineffective, allowing a double and 2 runs to score on back to back wild pitches. Nolan Crisp got the final out of the inning and pitched a clean 8th, then walk the 1st 2 batters in the 9th, the gave up a double before Ben Specht came in to record the final 3 outs. A win is a win and the big 3rd inning did the damage, although the bullpen weakness are still apparent, as there is nobody who is consistently reliable.

A much needed win as we seemed to swing the bats a bit better tonite. The 3rd inning was huge but we seemed to make good contact fairly consistently tonite. Matt Damon did not catch and Reese was back at 2nd base. Miozzi threw out a runner trying to steal 2nd base, something Damon has not done all year. Ocala mentioned it that our relief pitching sucked before Specht entered to finish it off. Heard Sully mention on the way home that in 4 of the 9 innings, USCe got their leadoff hitter on base thru either a walk or hit by pitch. totally unacceptable. Game ended with Dyson warming up in the bullpen so guess that means that he probably is not in line to start on Saturday?

Miozzi seems much more reliable behind the plate. Just wish he could hit a little bit. And the defense played a clean game tonight. Our pitching staff just has way too many walks, hit batters and wild pitches to be consistently effective. They get behind on counts or can't finish off batters with 2 strikes. Very unlike typical O'Sullivan staffs.

South Carolina beats Florida tonight 6-3 to even the series. Christian Scott came into the game with the best ERA on the staff with pitchers with over 20 innings of work at 3.60. But in his 6.1 innings he gave up 6 earned runs, inclduing 4 home runs. When he left the game UF trailed 6-0 and although the Gators rallied and ended up outhitting the Gamecocks 11-10, it was too little too late as we stranded 10 base runners, including leaving the bases loaded in the 8th and ending the game with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

Even tho Scott gave up 4 HR's, he at least threw strikes and pitched into the 7th inning, which was good. As mentioned previously, we could not get a timely hit and had a few hard hit outs again tonite, topped by Nelly being thrown out at home on an attempted inside the park HR. 6 inches from a HR over the fence to a triple and thrown out trying to stretch it into a homer. Saturday is an absolute must win game.

Jordan Butler slugged a 2 out 3 run HR in the rain in the bottom of the 9th, his 4th hit and 2nd HR of the day, as the Gators came from behind after trailing from the 7th inning or later for the 1st time this season, beating South Carolina 6-4, improving their record to 24-14, 6-9 in the SEC. Florida out hit the Gamecocks 9-7, but never led until Butler's walkoff homer. Tyler Dyson threw 89 pitches in 4.2 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits and a walk. David Leuthje threw the final 4.1 innings, throwing 54 pitches, allowing 2 hits and no walks in recording his first win as a Florida Gator.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all of us 50 fans that stayed thru the rain and until the end, what a finish. Ocala summed it up and we could not get over the hump until the very end. Butler played 1B, Calilao was in RF and Kirby Mac was the DH. No Nelly, No Dalton. In the 7th inning right before the rains came, the wind shifted dramatically from blowing in from LF to howling out to LF. So in the 9th, Sully sends Jonah Girand up to pinch hit, you know "Mr." it is either a HR or strikeout, LOL. Well he uncorks one down the line, well foul, but would have hit the Odome if fair. So he struck out followed by McConnell striking out. then 2 guys reach and Butler, who homered to left in the 1st inning, laced one over the scoreboard in RF. but here is the kicker. After the USCe pitcher walked Calilao to put 2 runners on, the USCe coach came out and asked the home plate umpire to have the grounds crew spread sand on the mound. Apparently the pitcher was having footing issues. So thank you to the grounds crew b/c 5 minutes and a bucket of sand later, the "Butler" delivered!!!!!!

Huge wins but boy does this team have issues in all phases. Needed a sweep but 2 of 3 beats the alternative before having to travel to the "BOX" next weekend at LSU.

They said on the TV broadcast that Florida has lost 10 straight SEC road games going back to last season. They're 0-6 this year and 9 of our last 15 SEC games are away.

Not an easy schedule and we have been Butt Blasted in 5 of 6 road games this year. We also get 2 very good teams on the road at LSU and at UGly. The other road series is at Mizzou However we have 6 winnable games at home against UK and Tinerc. yes I know Tinerc beat UGly in 2 of 3, but we have to sweep them. Win 6 at home and somehow scratch out 3 road wins (i know a very tall task) and we can finish 15-15 in league play which would guarantee us a tourney berth tho not as a host.
