This customized firmware can be loaded onto a router using one of the following methods:
- physical access to the router
- proximity access to the router via Wi-Fi
- intercepting the device in transit to be delivered to a user
Which, for most of us, means we won't get it on our router unless it is open to nearby sniffers. Or, if we're stupid enough to provide router access to people we don't know.
