I just don’t see how you guys can hold more contempt for coaches that busted their a$$es but were woefully incompetent (Zook,Muschamp) versus those that taunted us with their laziness while stockpiling cash from the gator nation like McElwain and Mullen.

I hate Fooley for hiring the imposters versus hating the imposter.

Agree on both parts. Also on Grier, forget 2018. We may have been a playoff team in ‘15 if he’d played all year. Even as it was we technically entered the fsu game 2 wins away from a birth. If Grier stays, and OM doesn’t allow a desperation backwards heave by that Arkansas TE which was advanced to convert a miraculous 4th and forever, we would’ve been facing the Rebels in Atlanta after destroying them at home earlier in the year.
In all fairness to the lateral by Arky none other than Bert carefully crafted that play and had his team execute it to perfection....
of course he also curb stomped Butters the next year with about a quarter of the talent that we had at the time.

I generally agree with you premise here. However, Ga. Southern, "do you know what a midline is", and the rise of defend the coach at all costs nonsense put Muschamp in a different league than Zook, maybe not quite as bad as the other two, but he still had a number of problems.

2, 4, 3, and 1... with 3 being well after 2 and 3, and 1 being well after 3. I'll just never bash Zook. He wasn't a pretender/fraud, no one thought of him as being a top tier HC (or any tier HC. He got hired, he tried, he didn't get us into probation trouble at a critical time, and he recruited well for Meyer. The other 3 on the list were all sold to the world as HCs, unfortunately, we bit.

Absolutely. One went out in tears after giving his all and just not having it what it takes to succeed here. The other went out despising the fans, grumbling under his breath and would’ve set the Swamp on fire if he’d been able to. Very different people.

My measure of respect/disrespect (the word hatred shouldn't apply here IMO) has much to do with how they went out.

Zook and Muschamp went down furiously fighting for their jobs, and the Zooker had a glorious moment christening Bobby Bowden Field by embarrassing the favored Noles.

Mac spent the last weeks of his final season feeling sorry for himself and making up a BS story of death threats to pathetically position himself as a victim. Mullen was maddeningly stubborn til the end and had long since checked out when he was fired.

I have zero use for the latter two and ample respect for the first two for their effort and commitment even if they were terrible football coaches.

Muschamp wasn’t fighting for his job, and certainly not for UF. He was simply fighting to prove the naysayers wrong about his own stubbornness and stupidity. Look no further than some of his comments, even after wins. He’s right in the same column as the last two failures.

How anyone can not have muschamp 1st is beyond me. He took over when the perception of Florida was that we were elite, top tier. And within 3 years we were losing to at homecoming with their freshmen 3rd string qb and getting skull ****ed by ga southern. That was the worst year in modern history. His record is worse than any of the others that have been mentioned. And when he left we didn't have enough scholarship offensive linemen to run a freaking practice. Literally left like 3 .

Maclewain is 2nd for me because and not far off because outside of the old miss game, every game was painful to watch. He was hyped up as the savior of our offense but him and his buddy managed to make it worse. The only reason I have better than muschamp is because he scraped together a better winning percentage and left some playmakers for mullen

Zook gets 3rd . He much like muschamp had the benefit of Florida being elite at the time he was hired. He inherited a better program than mullen and had a worse winning percentage. He also inherited an absolutely loaded team with a qb that got robbed of the heisman and only won 8 games. There's no way mullen only wins 8 games with roster.I give him props for setting up that 06 team. And there was some pretty fun upsets too.

Mullen took over after 8 years of terrible offense and 3 or 4 straight losses to fsu. We went to 3 straight new years 6 bowls. Gave us a Heisman candidate qb. And one of the best offenses we've ever. He had a solid record here. He became a lazy dickhead and shouldn't have brought his dickhead buddies. His hubris was his downfall for the most part but still won more games than the other three *******s and we were way more watchable.

1. Mullen
1a. Zook
1b. Mustank
1c. McSharkfucher
....and a very close #2 Doug Dickey, yes I was around back then.

Before Mullen, I totally dispised Zook and had him #1. Not from his effort and recruiting, but simply the guy was a complete moron. I always said, why would we hire the guy that Spurrier ran off. Zook was DC, demoted to SC Coordinator, then left for the NFL. The fights with the Frat Guys, his stupid ass timeouts, dip shyt two point conversions, and on. But again who wanted to come in after Spurrier.

Mullen we've covered at Nauseum. Urban said the program was broken when he left, Mullen absolutely burned it to the ground and left nothing but ashes after the previous asshats were here. Mullen absoulutely should have no respect from anyone in Gator Nation. And as we are hearing HE ALLOWED the culture to exist, players to control, and coaches to demean. If anything, Mullen was exactly what Heavsey said to many of our Players, he's a P*word.

Mustank.....loud mouthed idiot that can't get a grip himself.
McSharkfucher.....living off the I worked for Saban buffoon and bbq sauce.
and Dickey. You had to live through it to understand it. But similar to the above mentioned.

It really was an amazing run of hideous incompetence. At the end of the Chimp regime, I wanted ANYBODY else, because I just knew it couldn't get any worse. Somehow, incredibly, Foley pulled off what I thought was impossible. It was like finally getting out of prison only to be tossed back in on a parole violation two days later.

After we were given a huge gift by Butters during that press conference, I knew we had to make this next one count. When Mullen was hired, I was stunned. I just couldn't believe it. I was sitting on my couch when I got the news, and I think I turned as white as a sheet. That regime ended just the way I thought it would.

It's impossible for me to say which of the 3 were worse. They were all so uniquely horrible.

The naysayers were the media. He clashed with them. Is that surprising of someone who believes in himself and his way of doing things? The guy is innately competitive.

At the end of a failed term, the coach is almost always going to appear defensive. His back is to the wall. I think you're conflating two entirely different subjects.

Stricklin really should have been fired along with Mullen, for the simple fact that he KNEW exactly what Mullen was like from all those years together at MSU. He knew Mullen was an egotistical, lazy asshat. He was desperate and brought him in after a couple of candidates fell through. He should have kept looking, but felt like he needed to make a quick hire. Dumb.

Even worse, he then turned a blind eye to the destruction of the program that he KNEW was going to happen under that turd, because he didn't want to look bad for making the hire. Disgusting, really.

In terms of game-day ability.
1) Mullen
2) Mac
3) Muschamp
4) Zook

In terms of recruiting.
1) Muschamp
2) Zook
3) Mac
4) Mullen

Likability.
1) Zook
2) Everyone else

Im going to go with Meyer, it was like he said F-it, pulled the pin and tossed the grenade in the room. UF football is still recovering from the mess he left behind. I will forever be thankful for that 3 year run of 2 titles, but I am beginning to wonder if it was worth it.

Mac and Mullin are close behind. Muschamp was a good guy, who tried and was just not up to it.

A. This is dumb and ridiculous. You telling me THREE coaches over 12 years failed because of Meyer? To say UF football is still recovering from the mess he left behind THIRTEEN YEARS ago is ludicrous. Competent coaches could have had us back in no time. In hindsight, the hiring of the Chimp was really the worst hire. We needed a solid, proven coach at that crucial time.
B. Even if was Meyer, it was worth it.
C. Muschamp wasn't a good guy, he was a jerk.

I remember being on GSMB on the December 2009 day he announced his shocking decision to walk away from the job. The number of viewers went from a couple hundred to a couple thousand in a matter what seemed like a few minutes.

Meyer was a lightning rod, a pact with the devil. You took all the bad with all the good.

”show older posts” isn’t working for me, but I saw what you wrote in Pasty’s quote. Try this, send the invitations to the absolutely positively have to invites early, like really early. Then, every “regret” rsvp you get means you get to send another invitation.
