Late to this but this hire is super meh to me. Im trying to give Mullen the benefit of the doubt since I wasnt a fan of many of his assistant hires he made when he was hired at Florida, but there isn't much about Turner that sticks out. Losing Polite is huge, Zuniga is the only proven pass rusher on the entire team right now and hes not on Polites level. Mullen has to hit on this hire because its very possible that our pass rushing takes a big step backwards next year without Polite.

Im trying to give Mullen the benefit of the doubt since I wasnt a fan of many of his assistant hires he made when he was hired at Florida, but there isn't much about Turner that sticks out. We have a proven pass rush specialist coming in greenard who played for Grantham. Also, I must be in the minority of fans who has no idea who a "splash" hire is. Apparently most people can name 10 position coaches at each position off hand.

I think position coach splash hires aren't hard to find because you're just looking for guys who have a relatively solid history of guys that yve coached who put up good numbers, I think the only splash name you can find for Turner is Garrett. I mean his leading pass rusher in 2018 had 4.5 sacks and the competition they played was bad so looking at what his unit did this past season doesn't really inspire hope.
