Warning: Political Takes Four SEC games postponed this weekend due to the sniffles

Someone today said that they'd heard Alabama and Lsu may just scratch their game all together this year because there's no where to put it. The significance for us is that, supposedly, should we have the East wrapped up by the time we finish playing tennessee, they may cancel our game with Lsu as well, so neither team would be playing the week before Atl. No idea if it's true or not, but it would actually make sense. A meaningless rescheduled game against a team that our Atlanta opponent didn't have to play. We don't seem to ever get these types of breaks, so I'm a bit skeptical. But just passing along what this person heard.

 

If they play games on the 19th, they could move the SECC game to Christmas Day on Friday the 25th, since the Rose/Sugar are played a week later. Teams could arrive into ATL late on Thursday, you won't have all the pregame fanfare, luncheon, etc. that you normally would in ATL on the day before.

Something good on TV to watch on Christmas Day instead of the constant rerun of that damnable Christmas Story movie.

 

I'm always doubted whether we're going to play the West games. if it comes down to it the East versus East and West versus West games must be played.

this is why the conference wanted to maintain control.

I like the idea of cancelling LSU if we have the East wrapped up. It seems Alabama always catches the breaks while Florida misses them (or takes the high road).

The Big10 is already playing less games than us so Alabama and Florida playing one less shouldn't be an issue w/National conversations.

SEC adds extra game week for potential makeup contests
The SEC has done a solid job of accounting for potential disruptions, as it built in an extra week between the end of the regular season and the conference title game on Dec. 19 so that teams could make up a game if needed. And according to Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork, the league’s athletic directors have decided to add a second potential makeup date.

“We added December 19th as a playing date — we decided on that yesterday at our AD meeting,” Bjork said Wednesday, per CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd. “So we now have six Saturdays to work with.”

That means the SEC will likely be playing multiple games on the same day as the conference title game, which is set for Dec. 19. There are a whole lot of games to make up, and Missouri has already had two games postponed this season. So the Tigers could face Florida on Dec. 12 and Georgia on Dec. 19. Based on how things have gone this week, it seems possible that other SEC teams will also have two games to make up.

We were scheduled to play Mizzou Oct 24th but it got moved to Oct 31st.

The author may be mixing up their "tigers" as we face LSU Dec 12th.

 

As LSU is a west opponent of 'bama, we should just sacrafice it, let 'bama have it....

Yeah, as it stands now I'd be amazed if a game had to be canceled they would cancel LSU v Bama and still play LSU v UF. I'm really wondering how much more shutdowns the league can absorb before they shut down the whole shebang.
