Well, it's time for another project, and I wanted another droid - so why not the iconic R2-D2? All the files are free and readily available. This is going to take months, so settle in.

I already started with the top of his head:

Got the dome glued together, then puttied up. Going to a lot of sanding and re-putting on this one to make it right.

This is a serious question, I thought the finish on printed parts was much smoother than these... Are there differences in finish based on quality (price) of printer?

I've been thinking about getting a printer but I have no idea what I'd do with it.

No, assuming they are tuned in correctly the finish is going to be the same on every machine, which is obvious that it's plastic on close inspection. Resin 3D printers have a much smoother finish.

Your studio looks like the inside of the Jawas' sandcrawler or EV-9D9's smelter. Perfect.
