  • As some of you may know, @Bait'n Gator lives out in the country in Jawja. Seems he found a nest of vipers under his guest bedroom. Fortunately his cousin was away visiting his brother so ol Bait called in a snake catcher to help catch em up before she came back.

No matter how careful you are, sooner or later you will be bit in that profession.
I worked with a guy years ago that kept a rattlesnake as a pet. He would sit around watching tv with it crawling all over him. One bad move one day and it bit him on the thumb. He lived but had to be revived a couple of times while on the way to the ER. He also thought it would be a good idea to bring his rattlesnake to work. Management didn't think so and fired him.

On my bike ride the other day. That’s as close as I was getting. The pavement is 12 ft across. He was a little more than half the width.

Here was a slightly different angle. He was pretty damn fat.... I thought a log was laying on the path. 6-7 feet long

Looks like an oak snake.

You can tell it's not a viper from the shape of it's head. I think Gatorhunter and Frozen Gator are both right. I never heard of an oak snake but they are apparently called a white oak grey rat snake.

They also look similar to the Pine Snake which grow to 7 feet but are generally a little thicker. I think both of these snakes are somewhat immune to snake venom and will eat poisonous snakes.
