Top ranked UF returns to the field this Friday for a 3 game series at #18 A&M. Florida has not played since taking 2 of 3 at home against Auburn in which the bats awakened in game 3 with 12 runs after trailing 3-0. A&M is coming off winning 2 of 3 last weekend at Miss. ST and stands 11-10 in conference play. UF sits atop the SEC at 16-5 and has a 4 game cushion in the East. This is probably our toughest series of the year given the timing of it as well as it being on the road and the opponent, but nonetheless should be a great weekend, starting with a monster pitching matchup on Friday nite at 7:30, streaming only. Sat. at 5pm on SEC Network and Sun at 1PM on ESPN2. Go Gators.

:chomp: win 2 of 3 and continues the season long streak of not losing a series.

Guys scored 4 runs with two outs in the sixth; now up 5-0. They seem to be money with two outs.

Singer with a gem. Threw a five hit shutout. Good stuff. Gators bats were lively as well.

9-0 Gators.

Good guys win 9-0 as Singer throws his first complete game of the year. Singer was not overly dominating and did not strike out a lot of guys, but he kept his pitch count down relatively speaking and let his defense make plays on the few hard hit balls against him. A very good performance.

Gators had a chance to blow game open in 1st inning as Liput lead off the game with a double to right and moved to third base on Nelly's bloop single. With runners on the corners and no outs, Indy and Dalton proceeded to both strikeout. And just when it looked like we would not scratch as JJ hit a slow chopper to third, the 3rd baseman threw it away allowing a run to score. Yes JJ was given a hit, but that was the worst official scoring decision I have seen all year and I have seen plenty of generous scoring calls at the MAC this year. Be that as it may, the Gators blew it open in the 6th, all with 2 outs. After the Aggie starter retired like 13 batters in a row and with 2 outs in the 6th, Dalton singled to center and scored on JJ's long fly triple to right field. JJ was easily out at 3rd base but knocked the ball loose from the 3rd baseman's glove on the slide. Langworthy then singled JJ home and Reese doubled Langworthy in. Bell capped the scoring by singling to center scoring Reese. A 1 run game that was tight turned into a 5-0 lead and basically put the game away. The rest was gravy. An excellent pitching effort was backed up by excellent defense and timely hitting. Hope Kowar shakes off his awful outing last Friday nite and shows better Sat. nite. Great start to the series tho.

Their starting pitcher, Kilkenny, was tough. Gator batters did a good job of running up his pitch count and when JJ tripled in the 6th with 2 outs to make it 2-0, they took him out and the dam broke. Our guys hammered their bullpen. Brady Singer was great and efficient, getting a complete game shutout.

The Gators can hang with the opposition's first line pitchers, and they usually can scratch out a run or two or even more. But when the first guy is done and the second line pitchers come in, the dam breaks. Seems to be a pattern.

That was one of the all-around best Gator performances all season.
It really was and fun to watch. Their ability to produce with two outs is just uncanny. The other team just can't relax. Last night a perfect example: two outs, nobody on, and then bang! Four runs are in. Game over. And Singer, when A&M had the bases loaded when it was still a 1-0 game, you just knew he would get out of it.

Catch that? Announcer says: "Do Gator athletes know how good they have it? Seems every year they win several championships, back-to-back repeats tennis, softball, track, on and on - something we're not familiar with at Tennessee."

Too bad "football" wasn't one of the sports he mentioned!

I'm sitting here being lazy AF watching this game. I caught the end of the ladies softball game just before this one. It's a Gator afternoon!
