Gators lead all universities in 2021 Olympic Medal Count

Looks like last year's Tokyo Olympics are going to happen this year. I've been kind of following the US Olympic Swimming Trials, and it's likely that we're going to have some Gators going to Tokyo.

First, in the 400m free, we have Kieran Smith, who dominated the field yesterday and made the team:

James Bates' daughter, Talia, didn't make the Olympic team but did pretty good:

Caeleb Dressel scratched out of the 200 free, but Kieran Smith is the top seed for finals:

Last night two future Gators were named alternates on the Olympic Gymnastics Team:
Kayla Dicello - who will join the Gators next year
And
Leanne Wong who will join the team this coming fall

Our local paper had a full page of all the UF athletes going... I think it's about 25 total representing various nations.

26 athletes, 2 coaches... and former Gators like Beal are counted in that number.

Kieran Smith gets a bronze, but the real story in this race was that the gold went to some Tunisian swimmer no one has ever heard of.

I think I spent more time at the photocopier or printer in the library than he did on campus.

It is hard to consider a guy like that "a Gator".
