I feel like we are on level four of Hunger Games. We’ve survived the storm, no power for a week, still no internet but have now moved on to the next round. Snakes have been added to keep things exciting!

UPDATE: we bought this iGen4500 generator through Sam's and the last week of the return policy we found out it leaked gas from the fuel filter onto the electronics. Wasn't a good start but it was a good generator and we had a lemon. Returned it to Sam's for $1000, found it for $700+ at Lowes. Also added the extended warranty for $100 this time. Our power has been out since Friday and it could be down several more days to a week. This generator is too loud for a typical neighborhood but perfect for our area. We have our kitchen refrigerator, free standing freezer, a few lights, occasional hot plate, coffee maker, microwave, whole-home-wifi (internet tethered through cell), etc connected when needed. We have everything we need. It says it's at 25% output. Pleased with the generator so far and the remote on/off. Whole-house generator would be preferred but $10,000+ is a bit much. A few homes around us have them and enough family members have power that we can take showers.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: 90+ house into the Westinghouse iGen 4500 and it was worth every penny. Running 3 fridge/freezers and other small appliances as needed. (Unplug fridge to run coffee maker, hot plate or microwave) Seedy can still work from home with cell service hotspot but we are purchasing a booster that we needed for travel anyway. We have everything we need except AC and hot water but it keeps us in our home with the animals. Whole home generator would be nice but not for over $10,000.

Wait a minute.....you're still without power since March and you're telling me 10K is too much?

Funny @Concrete Helmet

No, another freak storm on Sunday took out our power again for 3 days. The neighbor with the whole house generator said she was SOL like the rest of us because the alternator went out. At least 10 trees down on our lane.

I've got this one.

We ran our whole house (including the Central AC,) minus the hot water heater, without issue.

Using a chainsaw with no eye protection and in flipflops

:thug::thug2::headbang:
I used chainsaws for years, like nearly 30 years without incident. Then one early fall day in 2019 I was cutting a Privet bush that was maybe 1-1/2" diameter. The saw got pinched and immediately kicked back and hit my left leg. These pics shows the result of that. Since then, I rarely even start my chainsaws without wearing chainsaw chaps. They're worth every penny...

You should be able to run a 5,000 btu air conditioner with that sized generator. You might have to unplug everything else except your freezers and refrigerator though.
I only run the AC at night.
I just set the window ac in my bedroom, close the doors and run that through the night. Normally, when bad storms hit in Florida, the humidity and heat is off the charts on the backside. That little window unit is a life saver. It doesn't take up much room in the garage when not in use either.
