Anytime I bring up this subject, usually a war breaks out.

Phil... but there are some great stand alone Peter Gabriel songs... like Games Without Frontiers, which I always think of as a Genesis song for some reason... and it has Kate Bush in it... can't go wrong there.

PS Phil Collins SUCKS when his life is stable.. AWESOME when involved in crappy relationships/break-ups.

During a telecast of the MTV music awards Bono made fun of Phil Collins. U2 was supposed to introduce Phil and made disparaging remarks about Phil's artistry.
Bono is about as tree-hugging, lefty as they come so one vote for Phil. Phil's best album was the result of going through a divorce. Another vote for Phil. Peter Gabriel did that sledgehammer video which I'm sure is some anti-religion, pro secular humanism treatise. 2 points against Gabriel.
And finally, that night, Phil won best album over U2 so he got the last laugh.

I think Genesis was much better with PG in it (I'm a big fan of their earlier stuff). I saw PG in concert, I think it was 1986. Good show.
I liked the post-PG Genesis, just not as much. Didn't really care for PCs solo career.

However, too many hits to not say Phil Collins. My favorite is "Keep it Dark."

Not old enough to care. I know who Phil Collins is, so I will go with him.

Silly question. If Genesis is the question, then Collins is the easy answer. If it's solo career, Gabriel stands higher IMO.
