I'm tired of the piling on. Overwhelmingly, law enforcement is a positive for our society--should go without saying, really. Like any profession, there are bad. Here are a few stories among many that show the good. They may be a bit dated, but lately the media haven't been paying much attention to the good they do. God Bless our police who keep us safe.

"Residents spotted a couple Springville Police Department officers on Saturday evening mowing the lawn of an elderly woman.
We learned that after responding to a nearby incident they noticed the woman trying to cut her grass. She had a lawn chair and was alternating between mowing a strip and sitting in her chair to rest. They jumped in and lended a helping hand!
Thanks, officers, for taking care of our community in big and small ways – publicly and behind the scenes."

Bet they never mowed a black lady’s yard.

Maybe not, but this one bought a black lady a dozen egg after she tried to steal 3 eggs to feed her kids.

““I had a flat tire at 3 in the morning trying to get to work. I wasn’t able to reach anyone on the phone that could help.
I waved down these two twin cops and they took the time out to help me change my tire.
Their words were, ‘With all the hatred going on in the world right now it’s the least we could do.…
These two are good in my book.”

Then they tased him, cuffed him and beat the sh*t out if him.

A few years ago, there was a busy day of the week where both kids had to be in 4 different places at the same time. The wife and I would meet at a Sheriff’s substation because it was the perfect location and do a switcharoo.

So that evening, our very responsible kid cant find her kindle. We looked everywhere with no success.

A week later, a Sheriff’s officer drives up and hand delivers it. I asked where he found it. “Good ole fashion police work.” Apparently, she dropped it in the parking lot of the Sheriff’s office when she jumped out of momma’s car into my truck.

We bought that office lunch the next day.

Edit.... now that I think about it.... I’ll buy that office lunch again tomorrow. Let them know that some people do appreciate them.

For you old fooquers. Remember like 25 years ago 20/20 did a story where they approached street cops and turned in a “found” wallet with cash. Every single wallet was returned with the cash in it. Some were even mailed to the owners at the officers expense. They looked perplexed by the results.

A lot of good deeds out there. Great thread

I'd forgotten about that....I'm sure they had the narrative story already mapped out with the results they really wanted / expected. "Perplexed" is the natural reaction to the unexpected.

Every arrest is a good cop story. And every investigation closed and a person cleared is too. Investigators often say their job is to find the truth not make an arrest.

There are hundreds of thousands of police who have dozens of interactions every day. This is a silly thread. It's not like they are rare.

In many cities these guys have been working 12-16 hours and havent had a day off in three weeks, all while dodging bricks and bottles.

The local "police review board" staffed with about half lefty professors and "community activists" found zero complaints that were sustained in 2020, one in 2019, and three in 2018 in a large city metro with millions of people. Of course that doesn't mean no cops did anything, but they found that internal affairs was actually doing their jobs.

I love when a car intimidates these protestors or whatever and they immediately start screaming call the police.

You'd be hard pressed to find another profession more closely monitored and with a lower error rate.

You sure as hell won't find it at the EPA, your local doctors office or hospital or most any other place.
