Bring MM home. He can be the DC or new Safeties Coach. Bring in another DC or promote TG and find another Uber recruiter at a position of need.

Those would both be great hires. Both former UF players. Chizik has the reputation as a really good recruiter.

However, Manuel would be a homerun.
I didn't know that Chizik is a gator. That moves him to the top of my list. Make Marquand the safeties coach, maybe asst DC.

Doesn't affect me one way or the other. Over the years I noticed highlights of various teams by NFL films oftened showed footage of great plays made against the hapless Lions. Somewhat like SEC team highlights looked fantastic when the opponent was Vanderbilt. Hey, at least I saw Barry Sanders in his prime run all over the Indy Colts while ensconced in a luxury suite high above the field. He was special.
Wonder which Colts he ran over while ensconced in the luxury suite? Must have been the Colt owner's box and he ran over them on the way to the food table.

MM is also being interviewed by the Bengals... doubt he's interested in dropping down from NFL to college AND from DC to position coach.

Im thinking Grantham stays. I think him and Dan believe they can win a NC. He might wait for a HC job.

Yeah ... I dont think he is going anywhere. I'd like to see stability in the program on both sides of the ball for another year. Players have bought into the system so I would like to keep the system the same for one more year. Things are going our way so don't like the timing. If we have to change, it needs to be a solid hire.

My top 3 candidates
Marquand Manuel
DJ Durkin
Torrian Gray
My guess is Durkin is still too toxic, he probably needs a year in the bammer halfway house. But if not, he'd be a home run hire. He can coach and recruit, and we'd definitely never have to worry about him leaving for a HC job.

I’m not getting why MM would be a homerun hire. His 2 years as a DC were less than impressive. As far as I know, the last time he recruited was in college as a host. He’s a gator, but bleeding orange and blue doesn’t mean he’ll be a great DC or that he can recruit. We have no idea about either. I know he seems to be respected as a young nfl coach. That is a good sign.

1991. Hoosier Dome. Was a guest of Marathon Oil in their skybox. Sanders took a pitch to the right that the Colt defenders over-pursued. Barry recognized pursuit while still seven yards deep in back-field, planted his right foot and reversed direction. I came out of my seat, raised my arms signalling touchdown and yelled, "There he goes!" 50 or so yards later he was in the endzone. Was the only Lion fan in the area. Lonely, awkward celebration.

Good experience, good memory. I was just messin' with you because it sounded like Sanders was in the luxury suite.

For a 3-4 defense, I've never actually seen only 3 down lineman. Must just be me...
Right. Well, 3 down lineman and a dedicated Buck/Rushbacker who always rushes, no surprise at all probably 95ish percent of the time. 4-2-5 is more like it today.

He played a true Sabanesque 3-4 with 3 heavies (310-330) and four 250ish LBs in the day at Ugly.

I guess he adopted this CUSA style defense at Loovulle. Or perhaps he is just reacting to the roster. I dont know.
