I was raised on cane syrup and homemade grape and guava jelly.

Four years ago my brother in law gave me three tiny guava bushes. First year I kept them in pots. Second year I planted them in the backyard.

Looks like a decent crop of guavas is happening thus year.

@cover2 guava jelly is similar to mayhaw jelly in flavor.

Guava cobbler is likely what Jesus requested for dessert at the Last Supper.

Have never had any but have heard similar views to what you have shared. If it’s like mayhaws then I’m in, as mayhaw is tied for #1 in homemade jellies and preserves. How do you think they’d grow in the panhandle climate?

Guavas will not survive in the panhandle, too cold.

But I will make certain you get a jar of jelly to try.

You can also mix Guava juice, Passion fruit juice and Orange juice to make POG. It is a very good fruity drink that is popular out here in Hawaii. Though I don't drink alcohol, I think it would be really good in mixed drinks.

My dad made the best guava jelly I ever tasted. We could grow them at the river house in Suwannee Fla. They were right by a warm canal. But dad picked most of his in Polk County. I miss that stuff. They are tropical. Fodder must live far south. One more thing. The Cuban restaurant in Alachua has amazing guava pastries.

Next door to Polk in Hellsborough County.

My brother in law has guava bushes in Sumter County, but they sometimes get damaged by frost.

My dad had some places in Hellsborough that he found guavas. We had
great plants at that river house in Suwannee before we sold it....

All the Publix delis in the bay area have great guava pastries.

The Publix in WP at Southern and Parker has an entire Cuban coffee and pastries stand inside that’s packed all day. I imagine some of the ones in Tampa have that as well. Some of the best cafe con leche’s I’ve ever had.

The best thing Mi Apa does is finding the young Latina girls to work their counter in very tight fitting polos. At least in Gville. Never been to the one up there.

Because I notice attractive young Latina women wearing tight fitting polos?

I’m not exactly sure where you were going with this, but I’m almost positive you’ve been dropping acid when we aren’t looking.

Crime must be way down. I've randomly seen two reports of men being arrested this week for picking saw palmetto berries 'without a permit'. New law since July 1, 2024. Its a 3rd degree felony. Even on public land. wtf?

It's a big deal. They use them for prostate medicine and the people gathering them can make a fortune.

Speaking of guava...

...one of my co-workers just brought me a guava and cheese pie from McDonalds.

Even cold it wasn't bad.
