It kept either "going down for maintenance" or just throwing out the messages in threads in random order. People complained, most with humor but some perhaps inappropriately, and the paper decided to just close the joint. It has been inevitable for years. They haven't upgraded software in a decade or so and the paper is circling the drain so there was little doubt they would fix the problem. They don't have money for a newspaper staff much less an IT department and computer software.
