"On Monday, the University of Florida announced that freshman quarterback Treon Harris has been suspended indefinitely from the Gators football team after being accused of sexual assault. The school’s speedy response contrasts that of Florida State University, which never suspended or otherwise punished Jameis Winston after the Seminoles quarterback was accused of sexual assault. Here’s a comparison of how the two Florida universities and various law enforcement bodies responded to this pair of allegations."

Just one of many reasons why I love UF and hate FSU.

Yes we have higher standards than the Criminoles. Also GPD arrests players for jaywalking, while TPD covers up for rapists.

Good comparison, now let us all hope that our player is actually innocent. I know that it looks bad and even if there is insufficient evidence for an arrest if it happened he needs to move on to somewhere that they tolerate such behavior.

I hope Treon is innocent, but either way, I'm proud of how our university is handling it. When this severe of an accusation is made, you have to suspend the player until the facts are collected and proof of his innocence is confirmed. He can always be reinstated if proven innocent. If guilty, there's no place on the team for him.

If you like your quarterback you can keep your quarterback.

People actually get mad if a gator fan brings up this comparison. They cite UF's checkered past with lawbreaking from players

F them we are not the Crinimoles. I know the Aaron Hernadez thing does not make us look good, but Urbs did make Tebow be his roommate. There is not much more you can do. The sinner and the saint rooming together. Plus his brother turned out to be the opposite.

We haven't always handled things perfectly but despite what everyone thinks about WM, he has done things the right way as far as cleaning up the program. 2 incidents the entire time is pretty good IMO...there is more to these young men than football and we as people need to remember that. Of course we all love winning but in cases like this, it shows even when UF is down, they are UP...Go Gators!

FSU and Roger Goodell could learn a lot from watching how Machen, Foley, and Muschamp, and the university administration, handled this situation. I hope Treon is innocent, but . . . . I'm proud of the way UF has handled it.

Machen and UF did a great job handling this. The Slate article is brilliant. Thanks for posting.
