Y'all be safe down there on the West coast of Florida and in the Panhandle.

Hope y'all are ok and preparing.

Some games this weekend may be affected.

Looks like Valdosta is going to get yet another.

If you prefer official weather sites and static images, please use: NOAA at National Hurricane Center
- Note: this site requires the user to manipulate/choose factors and once you’re comfortable with it then it’s very easy to use and is helpful.

However, if you prefer moving graphics and colors and all the jazz then this site is very useful: Hurricane Tracking and Hurricane coverage from MyFoxHurricane.com | Powered by FOX 13 News and the FOX Network

I feel for the folks over in the big bend area. Destin area really should only have 25MPH winds and some rain.

I don't remember Floridians, back in the day, caring much about storms less than cat 4s. It was just a chance to drink, watch the storm come in, surf, and take a day or two off from school.

This will be the third storm in two years for me. Heck I know people that havent cleaned up from the first one. We have had hundreds of trees down and many many roads flooded and the first one caused me to have to replace my roof. I have probably had at least 30 trees down in my property and all kinds of debris everywhere. I do not need another one.

This is true.

But it's also a nod, back to the days when:
- housing costs were a half of today's costs
- Insurance companies didn't mandate coverage like they do now AND couldn't drop your policy all together like they do now
- roofing costs were a third of today's costs
- Bud Light wouldn't make you ghey so you now gotta choose Modelo at $7 dollars per six-pack (it's actually very good beer IMO)

Things are tough man.

Completely agree. I could also use a break.

I remember those days. Driving around with a beer in your lap and not being illegal. Getting ready to go skanking at 10, not crawling into bed with one.

Then I got old. Now I fantasize of living on the same grid as the hospital and a generator that never runs out of gas.

Meh. I'll be working in it.
Yeah, but those shorts won't get too wet and those heavy wool socks and leather boots should be able to handle it for at least 30 minutes before your feet feel like overcooked pasta and wet bread.

Idalia took out our dock last year at Sunset Place in Steinhatchee. After a year of going through assessments and getting bids on a new dock we got it completed last week and had our first boat at the dock, hope it ain’t the last.

Is that YOUR dock or is that OUR dock, like in a multi-family place?
Because that's a very nice dock!
And if the former, then how many boats do you own?
If the latter, then do you sublet/timeshare?

I manage 22 rentals and the majority of them are doublewides. I lost one older doublewide the first storm with a huge tree smashing about 1/3 of the home. Fortunately no injuries. Getting ready to put in 3 new homes hopefully by the end of the year or first of next year. Trying to be around for that.
