What I want is actually what I'll have in about 15 years. 2 homes. One in the southeast, likely the carolina coast, possibly outer banks area. The other in rural wyoming or montana.

Coastal home will be for beach, fishing and enjoying the cooler parts of the year. Northwestern home will be for wide open spaces, hiking, shooting, and spending summers and falls.

    It's gonna be great.

I’d love something similar, though I would probably stay closer on the east coast, like somewhere in NY state to go along with my FL home.

Also, maybe I’m odd in this, but having spent a lot of time time in both climates, I’ve always thought snowbirds are too rigid in their time allotments. I really appreciate some serious cold in its proper setting and would have no problem spending a Dec or Jan in the cold, knowing that it’s temporary. Same with the heat. Sometimes I want a really hot day by a pool or ocean. So if money were no object, I’d probably rotate quite often.

I'm with you and @Durty South Swamp . Mrs G., naturally, wants a house in Florida, but our northern place would be in Wisconsin somewhere on Lake Michigan. It's still relatively inexpensive up there (depending on where you go of course), and once you are 30 minutes or so north of Milwaukee, not crowded at all (unless you go all the way up to the Door County peninsula). With any luck we are 5-7 years away from pulling it off.

Agree on the cold weather, especially if you live in Florida. I just got back from a ski trip and it was great (but I live in DC/colder weather environment). We're about 5-6 years from full retirement (hopefully) and wife wants multiple properties (to use and rent on airbnb, which we do now with a cabin in Shenandoah County, VA). Except for this year, due to covid, we've gone to the Caribbean for a winter getaway the last several years - which is awesome (we've done Curacao, St. Thomas, Roatan, St. John, Cayman). But once we retire I'd like to have a winter place (we're thinking near Gatlinburg, since we have family in the area) and a beach place - and we'd rent it on airbnb when we're not there.

You guys misunderstood. She's not interested in buying things for herself.

She much prefers 81 doing that for her.

I hate the cold but also like it under certain circumstances. Moving from summer to fall and that clean crisp air just feels like football. Also a big fan of cold weather game days at Lambeau Field. Bring on some cold and snow for Christmas season and a couple sledding days with the kids. Then on Jan 1st it can **** right off.

Actually the worst part might be right now where you get that first taste of spring with some 60 degree days followed by days of freezing cold rainy days. Those days are worse than the worst February days because you have hope and winter comes back to slap you in face

As I’ve mentioned before, I spent much of my 20s and early 30s in NYC, so I’ve seen every condition it has. When asked about the cold, I always say I didn’t mind or even enjoyed Fall through Jan and was even ok with Feb. Honestly, most of the country isn’t very nice in those two months. I’ve seen Freeport and Vegas miserable in Jan.

But being a Floridian, it was around late Feb through May that I hated. Even though there were some beautiful days at times, it was still “winter” to me and I was ready to be back at the beach. Snow flurries in mid April? Totally out.

My plan is to buy a super pimp RV and hang with @Zambo in Baja.

I've got my eye on a few.

This is pretty sad, but I know if I won the lottery, I'd immediately pay off our student loans.

If money was no object, before I did anything else, I’d make a nice donation to the Cancer Center at Shands and to St. Jude’s. These two places provide help for those who are often helpless and in dire need. I’d also remember Winn-Dixie’s Hope Lodge.

As far as doing something I wanted to do, I’d like to spend a couple of weeks traveling the southeast with a couple of good friends and my son bird hunting at some venues that had good dogs, good cooking, and a spot to listen to some good blue grass and enjoy some cold ones around a fire before bed.

Seedy's mom passed in December and as part of the estate they will be donating to 25 charities per her request. Hope we are able to do this too one day. Hospice has a lot of angels employed.

You have to pay $65 million for a pile of dirt first. If you want a football facility, it'll cost you extra.

Same. I like the change of seasons but Jan Feb are the worst. That’s when I need to be on a beach somewhere. July/Aug would be great in MI on a lake.

Our community sprung up when the Gatorsports message board was shut down in the summer of 2014. We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.

The management works very hard to make sure the community is running the best software, best designs, and all the other bells and whistles. Care to buy us a non-alcoholic Zima? We'd really appreciate it! Just click the "Donate" tab at the top of the page.
