I'm in a state of shock: Just saw trailer for "Chappaquiddick"

    I can't believe what I just saw. Hollywood DOES NOT make movies that paint Democrat political figures in a negative light....EVER. So either a bunch of non-leftists made this movie (and somehow got it released), or at the end of it they somehow paint that slimy, drunken, womanizing slob in a positive light. Take a look and give me your thoughts.

    I like it Ox. But the Kennedy and Clinton dynasties are dead to the mainstream media and Hollywood right now so a true film about Ted Kennedy killing that lady will be fascinating to see but it's too little too late.

      It looks like they are trying to be realistic with this. I can't believe this coward kept getting reelected to the Senate after this.

        anytime anyone complains about repubs lie Moore bring up the pig of the senate Ted kennedy and all he did off the court so to speak. ;) He makes President Clinton look decent. :lmao2:

        Yeah, about 40 years too late.

        The trailer looks to be somewhat fair, but in the end I think the movie is going to attempt to paint Kennedy as a good man who made a mistake instead of the hypocritical, spoiled, womanizing, glutton and drunkard that he actually was.

          A mistake? He didn't report it for 10 hours. In the meantime:

            He actually NEVER contacted the authorities. Two fisherman discovered the car and the authorities were contacted 10 hours later.

            I didn't say I thought is was a mistake. Believe me, I know the story all too well. Even though I was a kid when it happened I was very interested in the story and read many stories and a book on the subject. It has always been a point of contention for me every time I saw that jerk's face or heard his voice. I have always hated that guy for so many reasons but it all started with this total miscarriage of justice. He killed her, went back to his inn and went to bed.

                It doesn't seem to be produced by a major studio. That may explain why the movie was made and seems to be faithful to the controversy. It is just a trailer though.

                The director John Curran has made a few movies with some familiar actors in it. They appear to be mostly mystery type movies.

                Movie makes no mention that all the girls at the "gathering" were single and no older than 28 and that all the guys were married.

                        Okay, I saw it. Extremely well done, and at 90 minutes it's short and sweet.

                        By the way, this was my first time seeing a movie with the new assigned seating in power recliners. Holy cow I couldn't believe how comfortable. I was laying all the way back, damn near horizontally. Here's what they look like:

                        Anyway, the movie didn't really pull any punches. The crime itself was really bad, the coverup was a lot worse. According to the movie, Kennedy went through a brief period where he had decided to do the right thing and resign, but of course he changed his mind. They were able to explain the fact that he called no one for 9 hours on a fabricated concussion.

                        The movie ends with Kennedy's televised address to the nation about the incident, which is packed full of lies.

                        The ONLY redeeming thing about the incident (and poor Mary Jo Kopechne is a martyr in this sense) is it kept that drunk out of the White House. If it hadn't happened, he almost certainly would have won the presidency in 1972.

                        Go see it.
