    670 days. 3,500 times.

Over 5 times per day in FL alone.

My problem is with the lack of due process and the undeniable potential for abuse and outright gun confiscation. They pulled some good examples in that article of how it can be used appropriately but I willing to bet there are quite a few cases that aren't.

I think the Florida Statute requires an investigation by law enforcement, but still has an ex parte hearing. Maybe Law or Alex are more familiar with the law and can add some insight. My understanding is that a law enforcement officer has to make a recommendation after an investigation, so it's not supposed to be as easy as someone calling up, lying, and they take your guns. Having said that, do you trust cops enough to follow the statute?

I'm not surprised by the number, lot of nutbags in Florida. I'd wager that 90% or more was SE FL

I’m not. Florida is full of bat**** crazies.

I just don’t understand the whole ex parte deal. If someone is nuts, Baker Act them and set up a hearing for them to attend. The whole point is supposed to be preventing access, the Baker Act does that without repossession. What am I missing?
