Reading some pretty scary stuff. Hopefully it moves out into the Atlantic. The Euro model has it going into the Gulf and in the FL straits next week. Yes, it is early however the Euro model is usually spot on or pretty close to it. Just read that it could break the record for highest winds for an Atlantic storm. Allen in 1980 holds the record.

This storm is really worrying me for many reasons...I wonder if it will go through Florida into the Gulf or up the east coast to the South Carolina area

The latest is that the models are starting to agree for a northern turn at some point. Landfall with the US is becoming less likely. That's good news.

That purple line is near the identical route Hugo took in 1988 up here, where when it hit land it sped up, and the area here, including Charlotte, got hurricane force wind and major damage. No repeat please.
(note - I moved here when I attended G-W starting in fall, 1991, but have been told about Hugo at length)

Keep an eye on this one. Slight jog to the left(more west).

Gonna be an interesting next couple days. We'll know more tonight or tom am. Looking like a US landfall is definitely a possibility. Below is the Euro model(the more accurate one).

Looking like southern Florida, maybe Miami, on September 11th.

Take that back! Take that back!

Fifty people in front of Home Depot when it opened at 6 a.m. in Davie. No water, for now, the the grocery stores. People are driving like damned fools- even worse than they usually drive.

Category 5 storm now, with winds at 180 mph. It's gotten much bigger too, with hurricane winds extending out 60 miles from center and tropical storm winds out 100 miles. :sadnanner:

South Florida stores are out of water...... and every gas station has a line. Many don't have regular gas right now.
