Still cleaning. Kids these days will have no clue the kinds of cables you needed. It’s painful for me to throw some of this away

Lemme know if you ever need a "parallel to USB" cable.... I know someone who might have one in a box in the garage... He's also waiting for this guy to appear in his garage saying, "We don't need 7 different lengths of Cat 5/RCA cables 'just in case'"

I co-teach a technology club after school to 5th graders and one of the kids was arrogantly describing the parts of a computer for competition so I pulled a massive relic off the shelf to photograph the motherboard. This beast had SCSI hard drives, sound card, 3.5" disk drive. Things he had never seen or heard of before. After explaining all the parts in there, he humbly said, "Wow, I guess I don't know as much as I thought."

Just finished up on Wednesday a Minecraft project for state competition. We have placed first and second several times over the years. This year the theme was about reconstructing a past event that had influence on the future. We built the Boston Tea Party, King George's castle, and the Boston Colonies. They told a vivid story about the unrest of today and teleported back to 1773 to find out what the Colonists did to change history. Then had to film it in a 3 minute video to submit. We needed another day to finish it up but submitted a solid project for 25 -10 year olds. It's like herding cats getting kids to be serious in Minecraft.

I threw away two garbage bags full. I forced myself to only keep a maximum of 3 of any one kind of cable. Got it down to 6 shoeboxes:

Good job... I know you're about 10 years younger than me, but here's a glimpse of your future, as seen in my garage...

EDIT: bin of useless old routers replaced by Orbi seen in bin below  20230121_090840.jpg

I hesitate to ask, but what is an Orbi and will it work with my CenturyLink DSL? Since we live where there is no cable.
I got this @bradgator2 ...

B52 - as the exclusive Orbi rep on GCMB, Orbi is a seamless home meshed network/wifi solution. It is phenomenal. It solved every f'n "router/coverage" issue known to man, it's just great. I've been using the ORIGNAL generation for like10 years at home, Son's #1 and #2 swear by it, and I converted Brad, I think Urg, and I think a few others. There are other things like it (Google Wifi...), but I'm pretty sure I'll forever remain loyal to Orbi. In all the years I've had it, I think I've had to resynch a satellite a total of maybe 3 times... usually they just take care of themselves, even after power outages.

PS Yes, it will work with whatever service provider you get. There are two basic setups for the Orbi: 1) You can use your providers router and just buy an Orbi "base" (and satellite(s) depending on your square footage), or 2) tell your provider you don't want to "pay rent" for their router anymore and get the Obri where the "base" is also the router.

Good to know. It’s something that we will give serious consideration to when it comes to Kentucky this year or next or when we start traveling more often.

Look into the RV model. $700 for the equipment, then $135 a month. No contract. Activate and deactivate it when ever you want. Easy to set up. Comes with a Wi-Fi router. It may take 2 months to get it. So plan ahead.

Thanks, we did consider it. However I heard that they are throttling speed now that more people are joining. True?
