I talked to some kids today that we’re having an 80’s Glow party so I started describing the 80’s.
One boy looked at me and said, “Whoah, you were alive in the 80’s??? Are you like 35?”

:cry2:
When I was maybe 5 yrs old I asked my dad (born 1928) if he rode in covered wagons when he was a kid. I still remember my mom’s laugh and the look on dad’s face.

I've mentioned it before, but in small shops in small towns and villages in Eastern Europe, they use an abacus to check you out.
But how would I check their math?

Mom had an abacus hanging on the wall in the kitchen when I was a kid. I played with it but never understood it.

"Yeah, uhh, babushka with the abacus and cash box...could I get a receipt please? This is a business trip and I need a receipt to write it off on my taxes."

MDSA. Except when in brackets. So, 1+2 first. Then 2 times that. Then that dividing 6. There is only one (answer).
So, 1+2 becomes 3, and the equation becomes 6 ÷ 2 (3). The parenthesis around the three indicates it is to be multiplied by what comes before it, so the equation translates to 6 ÷ 2 x 3.

As multiplication and division are of the same precedence, the equation then should be solved left to right: 6 ÷ 2 becomes 3, making the equation 3 x 3, resulting in a correct solution of 9.

Nine is the answer, but following old standards of how equations were written, one could come to a solution of 1.
From the article.

Apparently there’s new math….

The answer is 9. Any other answer is wrong.
6/2 * (1+2)
6/2 * 3
left to right now. Div and * are equal in precedence
3 * 3 = 9
Even Wolfram Alpha knows that:
