Slow roasting in good thick gravy. My mom probably use veggie oil but today I’d use bacon grease.

Back in the day it was in some gravy...........aint had squirrel since I was a young man............
Ive had quail and dove more recently and like them better anyway.........
but if i can remember salt and pepper in braise them in a dutch oven the cover in some gravy and cook them till tender..........I knew some that cooked them in rice..........
