GbM, honestly that might be more in line. Remove the outlier which is Missouri (we have traditionally played like schit after UGA) and the outlier which is Michigan (extra time and Michigan wasn't there to play).

At best you’re citing what he has been, not what he is or what he will be.

I recently alluded to this elsewhere, but for a guy who was an unpolished project with big potential, who had craptastic coaching from Mac & Nuss, had a team implode on him as he was starting out in 2017 and started with a good coach and system in January 2018, he has made measurable and steady improvement.

Compare him to Shea Patterson at Michigan.

He’s a project. We’ll see how that project develops. And that includes his leadership and OL calls. He may well regress. But I don’t think he’s over. Not yet.

      2 things can be true.
I agree that the run blocking hasn't been great, but a good running back doesn't require a great line.

Rail on the QB all you want but truth be told you want to run scores up you need a defense to get turnovers. This has been lacking this year so far but it's early. It's also early for the very young O-line. I remember Kenyatta Walker's first year and he was Mr. holding call and this line hasn't been to bad in that respect. My point we are 2 and 0 and I feel much better about the season than 2 years ago.

@Marine1 read @ltraz post as many times as you watched the play. This notion that completion percentages tells the story is ridiculous. Doesn’t mean he didn’t complete some nice balls but also doesn’t mean it was a “good” performance. In fact, an FCS team is exactly the type of team you takes some chances and push it further downfield to PRACTICE against competition you don’t control. A high completion % means he played it very safe. Worked against a paid for patsy but won’t help his development. Would we be giving him crap if he tossed some picks while trying something harder? Of course. But that’s because we expect our QB to be able to push it downfield with regularity against a FCS defense.

And stop with this “we didn’t start slow” BS. THE HEAD COACH SAID SO HIMSELF! He was pissed with effort and our start. I bet he expected us to start like we did against Idaho last year - 35-0 at half or so. Instead, he’s in a 17-0 game with an extremely overmatched opponent that has no business being less than 3 TDs down at half.

This is awesome and much needed around here. Appreciate it! Pumps gonna pump - which is fine - but a little dose of reality goes a long way.

Dont disagree with that ... but it is impossible for me to disagree with you more that Perine isn't starting material. That is just plain dumbdumb speak. Don't be a dumbdumb.

There is absolutely nothing you can say to convince me he had a bad game. He did not. He executed the game plan. Now if want to say he missed a read here or there ok. If you want to point out he threw 2 incompletions we are on the same page. But the rest of it is just nonsense. You don’t like the kid so no matter what he does you are going to degrade it. That’s fine too. Some of us believe he played fine. Some like yourself think he played like shyt. That’s our board in a nutshell.

Now go back and read what I posted. The sluggishness was on the D. You can’t rewrite the game. We scored on our opening drive. Didn’t get the ball back again until late in the 1st and that one drive stalled early in the second. Then 2 straight quick TD’s. Got the ball back with about a minute to go in the half and missed a Hail Mary with 2 seconds. Opened the 2nd half with 3 straight TD’s.

So we opened with 1 FG and 5 TD’s on 7 drives not counting a desperation Hail Mary.

That’s sluggish? At the absolute most we-could have only converted the FG to a TD (which if not for that blade of grass Pitts would have done so) and converted the 4th down stop to a TD. That’s it! We literally scored every other possession we had until Trask led us to a punt.

Sluggish? The offense? Was the running game sluggish? Maybe so. But we literally scored anyways on those 6 drives. All but one was a touchdown. Give the team just a little bit of credit. Come on, man.

I can tell you Swain was wide the f*ck open on this play over the middle on a seam route. He could have thrown it left handed for a touchdown. That rising crowd noise you hear a second or two before Franks threw it was the crowd reacting to how open he was and anticipating the throw. For whatever reason, he either didn't see Swain in time or was looking somewhere else and then it was too late.

Franks played about as good as you can in this game. People complaining are nuts.

Our problem imo... is our OL. We still aren't getting the push we need in the run game.

It’s like you don’t read. I’ve said he did fine numerous times. Completed a bunch of balls against air. Played it safe. Never said “bad” or “shyt”. That’s you getting hyper emotional as a pumper and not living in reality. I want him to live up to his potential, take some chances - smart chances, not the hero ball he’s started doing again, become that willing runner he was at the end of last year, and develop leadership instead of likership. How is that hate - unless you’re a diehard pumper who refuses to see reality?

You know why we were in a position for a blade of grass to cause a FG? Because Franks played it safe with 5 screen/sideline passes! As @ltraz just detailed for you, intermediate passes were there. He just didn’t take them. Which leads to 3rd and 4 against FCS teams and allows a particularly virile blade of grass to ankle tackle a TE. Later in the game, he tried a couple of intermediate passes over the middle and guess what - it worked! Same story on the other drive - 5 rushes, 2 sideline passes, turnover on downs. He starts going over the middle, offense moves, and scores points. Amazing right? Almost like they started sluggish... 28-0 is a heck of a lot different than 17-0.

So that would be a... BAD READ! Then he read it and decided to play... HERO BALL! Forcing one into that double coverage gets picked in the SEC. He’s done it in two straight games after avoiding it late last year. It’s concerning. That said, he did make some throws he couldn’t, even against Miami. There was a particularly nice, difficult throw to Grimes in the 3rd (i think) where he was rolling left and put it right on him for 10 yards. More of that, less safe dink/dunk please.

So Franks throwing short passes to get there caused Pitts to fall down on his way to a touchdown which demonstrated our sluggishness. Got it.

What he could try is having a TE that is mostly for blocking, it worked for the Dolphins a long time ago and if we have a person it could work today. Also coach them up in blocking.

Look, I’d write this out in crayon if I wasn’t sure you’d eat them. Always taking the short safe throw put us in a position (3rd down) where a random event (just for you - a 300 PFT caliber blade of grass) caused an undesirable result (FG). Had he tried a pass beyond the line of scrimmage earlier in the drive or heck - on that play - we may be here talking about the new polished Franks. Same story on the second drive. 3rd drive - first time he tries more than 2 yards beyond the LOS, we score. 4th drive - same result. Maybe, just maybe, Mullen was referencing that.

I would eat the crayons but still wouldn’t know how he was the cause of Pitts falling down. Does Pitts have any culpability or his falling down is all on Franks for throwing previous short passes?

I did like the two forward passes for long TD’s polished or otherwise.
