I'll say this. I'm not optimistic at all that we land any of these big names, and that feeling grows with every passing day. If we were sitting here with even a normal sized class, I could see these life long Gator fans letting things play out and announcing at the end that they're jumping on board as well. But that's simply not reality. We're ranked in the 90s with the smallest class I can ever remember at this stage, and if not fixed soon, will be facing a really difficult situation in a few years when these recruits are almost entirely relied upon. The only way I see them coming on board is if they truly see the vision of Mac and want to be a part of it. But if that were the case, I think it would be tremendously disrespectful of them to stand by and watch our "brand" being continuously drug through the mud. If you're a Gator at heart, help get things rolling again. Even from a selfish standpoint, no one or two players can do it alone. You need a supporting cast that want to play with you and rebuild things here. They're actually hurting themselves with delaying things, if that's really their intentions, which also makes me question them from a character standpoint.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming them for our current state. But I just think if they wanted to be Gators, given the circumstances, and knowing what they're committing would do in terms of momentum, they would've and should've done it already.
Exactly my thoughts.

I probably should've added that I think we'll be fine over time. It wasn't so much to come across as panic, but to just say that I think we're probably not going to get these bigger guys this year. And if we are, and they're just playing the game, I think it's extremely counterproductive for both parties. Either way though, we'll be fine once we show progress on the field. It definitely sucks that we put JM in this situation, but I was really hoping he'd be able to mitigate the damages a little sooner. Again, no panic, just a little disappointment with where we are.

I tend to agree with you on this. I'm not overly optomistic, but I know there is a game and players like to get some attention. Commiting on NSD on ESPN or in front of your HS is a big thing these days and the guys want that and want it to be a surprise... At least I hope.

If they are working to recruit on the back end then the brand really isn't being drug through the mud. I'm hopeful, but I'm also prepared to be disappointed as I have been by so many big name recruits in the past.

I don't think we get both Cowart and Jefferson. I read an article recently where they both want to play the Buck position. Unless we get real creative on defense, it doesn't look like we'd see both on the field at the same time. On top of that, McAllister was just starting to come on last year, so I doubt the young guys will pass him next year as a starter

So we got more coaches than we have recruits ? So our coaches had better work some magic when kids visit.

The Buck position left with Muschamp. Who knows what scheme we'll play. Imo Cowart is ready to play at this level now. CeCe could possibly split time with McAllister.

Collins said that they will run the hybrid position. Whether the call it the Buck, the Jack (Bama), or some other name doesn't really matter. The coaches have gone on record saying the position will exist. If not, Cowart is on record saying he wants to play standing up in college. Obviously things can change, but they've got to get him signed first.

Read an article today on either Gator Country or Gator Sports that quoted our new defensive coordinator as saying that concept will still be a part of his defense. He said he had two such players that he used at MSU last year. Most certainly it will no longer be called "buck" but the concept itself looks to still be used. How much it's used, Collins suggests, will be determined by personnel.

Psycho? Haha. Seriously though, Buck, Jack, CRYPTiD, who knows what they call it. Just the fact that they have the hybrid position is great.

This was my post from awhile ago on another site. Remember, this is just a joke. It was titled New Implementations for the PSYCHO Defense.

First and foremost, the introduction of the new "Swag Chalice". Though the older version is a highly regarded relic, it shall be replaced with as an over-sized mug with handle for superb grip. The contents of the Chalice will remain 7 mountain dews (though cherry flavored) and a 5 hour energy, and / or up to the decision of the chief Psycho himself, Geoffrey Collins. However, the mug will carved from the skull of Chucky decorated with orange kyanites, bloodstones, red spinel stones, dragon's blood calcite crystal, and green malachite only found in heart of the Congo.

The next step in the evolution will be the re-introduction of the "juice points" given to the players for heroic plays on the battlefield. For the Gators, the "juice points" will be ceremonial in nature, almost ritualistic. They will be handed out Sunday nights after midnight in the Swamp with a bright spot light shining on them at the 50 yard line standing on the Gator Head. The rest of the Swamp will be pitch black. The players awarded any "juice" points will kneel down on one knee on the Gator Head and will be carefully handed the "Swag Chalice". They will sip from the chalice while the other players are chanting their name. Though the contents of this version of the chalice will likely contain only water, carbohydrates, and electrolytes (what we call Gatorade). Other activities will be determined by the coaching staff and team leaders.

The final step in the transformation of the Psycho defense will be in the introduction or indoctrination of a player built to be a reckoning force in this defense. He will be very similar to that antlered deer animal we've known before here in Gainesville. His position will be called Psycho though. His exact tasks and duties on the field will be up to Geoff Collins and will be to be determined, but his initiation onto the field will be unique. Prior to gameday, he will be loaded similarly to an all-too familiar face known as Garland Greene (Steven Buscemi) from the classic tale Con Air. Below is a video of how the Psycho will be released onto the field in front of 90,000+ screaming fans. The difference being he will be wearing a Gator Helmet. He will be the one to lead the team in the pre-game huddle. Please watch the video below for a similar, yet not exact demonstration of the introduction of the Psycho.

I was thinking the same thing...Dexter Williams looks like a stud! His SPARQ ratings were off the charts too. But, i'd be happy with Scarlett and/or Cronkrite.

Maybe they should call the position "CHUCKIE"

Would like to see WR Ryan Davis be added to the list as well...he is also uncommitted and looks like a player. He is taking an OV to AU this weekend, along with a bunch of other studs we need. I don't want Muskrat getting these guys!

Ivie will be unofficially visiting the 16th with all those offensive linemen. Hopefully we get a couple to commit this weekend.
