seems that way. Embarrassing if true. Nebraska has never won a tourney game. Ever.

Interesting, but probably not the full story. Big Ten is not any easier or harder than the SEC, it is colder, a lot colder. Perhaps he was not fitting in at UF. Now perhaps we can get a specialist in front court players, which most of us wanted.

Really strange for sure... My guess would be that he maybe did something embarrassing/unethical and got out of here before we could fire him? I'm interested in hearing more about this.

Possibly. One poster at another site said his insider said it was 100% UF/Coach White decision. Sounds like showing the door to me.

I think the conversation went something like this:

Gates: So how do we pay players around here?

White: We don’t pay basketball players in the SEC – well unless you’re Kentucky. We Reserve that for football.

Gates: Crap. I need to get back to the Big10.

I wonder if we will really know the 100% truth as to what happened. Gates hasn't even been here a month. So either they just didn't get along or Gates did something.

One possibility is not being forthcoming about something on his resume that would not be so bad as to cause him not to get hired at UNL. On the plus side now UF has a chance to get a big man coach again.
